Paula Badosa, who suffered her 37th career retirement due to injury, has announced on her Instagram stories that she is putting tennis on hold until 2026.

Badosa explained that “I couldn’t do this without the people who keep believing in me. Their support holds me up when everything gets heavy, and their faith gives me courage when doubt sets in. There’s no greater feeling than walking onto a tennis court and seeing them there, backing me up. That energy, that love. It’s something I can never be grateful enough for.”

“It doesn’t matter how many obstacles are put in my way, I promise you this: I will keep fighting, I will keep pushing, and I will keep finding a way to come back,” said the 27-year-old Spaniard, who on April 25, 2022 reached number two in the WTA rankings.

“See you in 2026,” he said.

Paula Badosa’s latest injury

Paula Badosa, who is currently ranked 19th in the WTA rankings, retired in Beijing after being injured for three months, bringing her total to 37 retirements in her professional career.

This time it was the left leg that failed the tennis player from Begur, whose career is being conditioned by injuries.

Badosa had reappeared the previous week defending the Spanish national team in the Billie Jean King Cup.
