Even while focused on recovery, Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes still found a way to make Valentine’s Day special for his family. The superstar signal-caller, currently rehabbing a serious knee injury, delivered a heartfelt surprise for his wife Brittany Mahomes and their daughters – proving football isn’t the only thing on his mind this offseason.
Brittany shared the moment on social media, posting a photo of their children holding bouquets sent by their father. Mahomes also sent flowers directly to her, turning a simple holiday into a meaningful family moment.
Three sets of flowers for his three girls. We love you.
The gesture quickly drew reactions from fans, many praising the couple’s relationship and Mahomes’ effort to stay present at home despite the challenges of recovery.
Mahomes family moments during a difficult recovery
Mahomes is currently working his way back from a torn ACL and LCL suffered late in the season. The injury required surgery and began a demanding rehabilitation process that will likely stretch into the offseason program.
Despite the seriousness of the setback, the quarterback remains optimistic about his timeline. He has made it clear his goal is to be ready when the Chiefs open the next campaign.
I want to be ready for Week 1. The doctors said I could, but I can’t predict what happens throughout the process. That’s the goal, to play Week 1 and have no restrictions.
The rehab hasn’t been easy. Mahomes acknowledged recovery comes with good and bad days, something he’s learning to manage with patience and discipline.
“What I’ve found out through this process is not every day is going to feel amazing,” he explained. “You have to have somebody you trust that’s going to get the best out of you but that’s going to keep you safe.”
Still, he remains encouraged by how clean the surgery went compared to other potential knee complications.
“As bad as it was, it was as clean as it could be,” he added. “Now it’s just about rehabbing and getting the ACL and the LCL right.”
Brittany celebrates milestone with Mahomes’ support
While Mahomes continues treatment, he has also stayed close to his family during important personal milestones. Just days before Valentine’s Day, Brittany celebrated her Sports Illustrated digital cover and shared photos from the event with her husband proudly by her side.
Fans flooded the comments with support for the couple, with one writing:
“Look at the size of Patrick’s smile. He is so proud and in love with you.”
Another added, “Such a beautiful love story.”
The Valentine’s Day flowers reinforced that dynamic – a reminder that even during rehab, Mahomes is focused on family as much as football.
For Kansas City supporters, the images offered reassurance. The franchise quarterback appears motivated, positive and determined to return healthy. And while his timeline ultimately depends on recovery progress, his target remains unchanged: leading the Chiefs again when the season begins.
Until then, Mahomes continues balancing rehab sessions with family life – and occasionally, a bouquet of flowers for the most important people in his huddle.
