Following a crushing Super Bowl loss, Patrick Mahomes is in a somewhat familiar position. Mahomes has now lost The Big Game twice, but this recent defeat puts the Kansas City Chiefs dynasty at risk, which makes the stakes so high this upcoming season.
Mahomes retreated out of the spotlight following the Super Bowl, but he emerged about a month later, showing up to support Texas Tech during the Red Raiders’ NCAA Tournament run during March Madness. His love for his college knows no bounds, and he showcased that on Friday.
Patrick Mahomes couldn’t focus on commercial due to Texas Tech’s historic softball team
While filming a commercial in which he had to wear a full suit and football cleats, Mahomes was captured clutching onto his phone, watching as Texas Tech’s softball team clinched a berth in the Women’s College World Series. It’s the first time they’ve done so in program history.
Mahomes seemed to only check his phone when he had some downtime, likely in between takes. At the end of the video, he was seen sprinting back to his phone with a silver football in his hand, cracking a big smile as he picked up the phone and saw the game.
As with most sports fans, Mahomes has an affinity for his alma mater. He’s constantly reposting pictures or videos from Texas Tech’s athletics accounts on social media, and was a constant presence during March Madness. He also makes it out to their football games during his bye weeks. Look for him to make appearances at the Women’s College World Series.
