The Kansas City Chiefs are favorites in the betting houses to return to the Super Bowl from the American Conference. However, they will need to make a significant effort to fill the gaps in their team and compete in a very tough conference with countless contenders: Buffalo Bills, Cincinnati Bengals, Baltimore Ravens, among others.
The Chiefs have big needs on offense, especially in protecting Patrick Mahomes, after he was brutally hit by the Philadelphia Eagles in the previous Super Bowl, suffering six sacks. In addition, during this off-season, they traded their guard, Joe Thuney, to the Chicago Bears, so it’s important to pay attention to that unit.
However, the offense was at times stagnant, and despite Patrick Mahomes’ 26 touchdown passes, the team needs more offensive weapons. A familiar face could return to become a new asset.
Tyreek Hill in the Chiefs’ sights
Miami Dolphins’ wide receiver, Tyreek Hill, has been linked with the Chiefs in a possible reunion with Patrick Mahomes after the controversial player used his social media to force his exit with some indirect hints.
The Chiefs’ desire to bring him back is strong, but the team’s general management would have to make a significant effort to secure Hill again, which would mean trading some draft picks and potentially a player to convince the Dolphins to part ways with Tyreek.
“Hill comes off a rough season, but he also played with a broken wrist, according to his agent, and Tua Tagovailoa missed several games due to a concussion. These two factors certainly explain his struggles,” said Mike Moraitis of The Sporting News.
“The Chiefs would likely have to give up a Day 2 pick for Hill, but the good news is that he is under contract until 2026, so it wouldn’t just be a rental. The star receiver would be exactly what the Chiefs need to fix their issues at the position.”
There’s no doubt that by bringing Hill back, Patrick Mahomes’ offense, alongside Xavier Worthy who will be entering his second year, would become explosive again. With that, they could once again aim for big things, including Mahomes’ fourth Super Bowl ring.
