Patrick Mahomes’ latest appearance confuses fans: Is he trying to be Jalen Hurts?

While Patrick Mahomes trains during the offseason in preparation for yet another Super Bowl push, a subtle but noticeable change in his appearance has fans talking across social media, as his goatee has finally connected.

A photo posted by a Chiefs fan on Saturday revealed the facial hair evolution, showing Mahomes with a fully connected goatee for the first time.

Previously known for his distinct mustache and lightly groomed beard, the quarterback’s facial hair has now taken on a new, sharper look.

Chiefs fans weigh in as Mahomes embraces the offseason transformation

While the adjustment may seem minor, it quickly ignited social chatter. “Is he trying to be Jalen Hurts?” joked one fan, referencing the rival Eagles QB and his signature facial hair.

Another admirer declared, “He’s so hot,” while others took a more humorous approach.

And, of course, some fans weren’t even phased-“I didn’t notice,” said one, casually brushing off the update.

Beyond the facial hair, Mahomes remains firmly focused on football. After leading Kansas City to its third consecutive Super Bowl appearance last season, the two-time NFL MVP continues to build what many already consider a Hall of Fame resume.

“Any time you lose a Super Bowl, it’s the worst feeling in the world that will stick with you for the rest of your career,” Mahomes said after the defeat.

“It’s hard to come back from that in the Super Bowl. I have to learn from that and try to be better the next opportunity that I hopefully get.”

The Chiefs ended their 2024 campaign with a 17-3 record, defeating the Houston Texans and Buffalo Bills en route to capturing their fifth AFC title since Mahomes took the reins.

Statistically, Mahomes posted a strong season despite facing adversity at times. He finished with 3,928 passing yards, 26 touchdowns, and a 67.5 percent completion rate, along with a 67.6 QBR and a 93.5 quarterback rating.

“Everything looks great right now getting the guys back and healthy,” Mahomes said. “I think the offense has a chance to be really, really good. The core group will be back in its entirety, so the goal is to try to build on it and get even better and try to get back to some of the explosive passing plays that we’ve done in years past.”
