Patrick Mahomes issues serious warning about the future of the Kansas City Chiefs and the new stadium

Arrowhead has long been the fortress of the Kansas City Chiefs. The noise, the passion, and the unwavering support from fans make it a unique and special venue. It has forged a strong bond between players and fans. However, in the face of the NFL’s modern stadium trend, where cutting-edge designs have become the norm, Chiefs leadership is now evaluating where to build a new home for the team-one that reflects their greatness both externally and within its very core.

In light of this, Chiefs quarterback and franchise star Patrick Mahomes made his thoughts clear. While he acknowledges that the decision is out of his hands, he holds strong feelings about Arrowhead’s significance.

You know, it is really out of my control, honestly,”…”But I think there’s a – Arrowhead is a special place. It’s a special place that doesn’t come around a lot of times. It’s my favorite place to play in the NFL, not just because it’s my team, but you can feel the history of it when you play.

Mahomes shared this sentiment in a recent interview with Alex Sherman of CNBC Sports.

When asked whether Missouri had an advantage in the stadium race, Mahomes acknowledged the efforts on both sides.

But I know Kansas has done a great bit as well,”… “And I mean, they would build a great stadium and facility and be the top of the top. And so I don’t really have a choice no matter, anyways, but I think either way, we can’t go wrong, because we have the fan base of the Chiefs Kingdom behind us, and they’ll fill that stadium, no matter if it’s in Missouri or Kansas. So I’m just excited for the future of the Kansas City Chiefs.

The current lease on Arrowhead Stadium runs through 2030. By then, Mahomes will be 34 years old. Should the new stadium be ready by the following season, he would be playing at 35-an age where, given the extended longevity of quarterbacks today, he could still have another five solid years at a high level in the NFL.

2025 season

The 2025 NFL season is fast approaching. Teams are gearing up for the preseason kickoff in August and are sharpening their rosters to be as prepared as possible for the regular season.

Let’s not forget that last year the Chiefs were swept in Super Bowl LIX by the Philadelphia Eagles. Now, Kansas City is seeking revenge and is ready to go all-in to achieve it.

This is expected to be the final season for Travis Kelce. The Chiefs hope he can elevate his numbers again after two seasons of decline, aiming to help the team reach its ultimate goal: winning another championship ring. If achieved, Kelce could retire at the top, with the certainty of being inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame within five years. Meanwhile, he continues enjoying life alongside his girlfriend, singer Taylor Swift.

On the other hand, Kansas City is still working to strengthen a defense that has not matched its past efficiency, and reinforcing the offensive line to give Mahomes better protection.

The truth is, this team has the talent to be among the title favorites. But the AFC is stacked with tough opponents, including the Buffalo Bills, led by the current MVP, and the Baltimore Ravens, with Lamar Jackson under center-capable of anything on a good day.
