As the Kansas City Chiefs once again strike fear into the NFL,Patrick Mahomes seized the spotlight in a stellar performance against the Detroit Lions, putting on a show in front of Taylor Swift and WNBA star Caitlin Clark. The quarterback continues to shatter records, silencing any doubts about who should be considered the greatest QB in NFL history.
This time, much to the chagrin of longtime Miami Dolphins fans, Mahomes surpassed a record set by Dan Marino.
Patrick Mahomes Overtakes Dan Marino
Heading into the game against the Detroit Lions-one of the NFC’s top Super Bowl contenders–Mahomes had 299 career touchdown passes. With three more in the game, he set a new record that he can continue to build upon.
In the first quarter, Mahomes threw a six-yard touchdown pass to Xavier Worthy to tie Marino’s mark, then added two more scores to surpass it. With his first touchdown pass against the Lions, the Chiefs’ quarterback reached the milestone in just 139 career games, compared to Marino’s 147.
Mahomes made history in front of Taylor Swift and Caitlin Clark, who were captured by cameras among the spectators at Arrowhead Stadium enjoying this Sunday Night Football showdown.
Next week, the Kansas City Chiefs will face the Las Vegas Raiders after improving their record to 3-3, remaining in contention for the AFC West lead, which remains tightly contested with the Los Angeles Chargers and Denver Broncos.
