The Chiefs came one step away from becoming the first team in history to win three consecutive Super Bowl titles. However, last February, they were simply crushed and dominated 40-22 by a Philadelphia Eagles team that excelled in every aspect of the game.
In 2024, the Chiefs finished with a 15-2 record, but several of those wins came in extremely close and even fortunate circumstances. It was also a very difficult year for Patrick Mahomes: for the first time in his career-excluding his rookie season-he did not surpass 4,000 passing yards and threw only 26 touchdowns.
The Chiefs’ defense was up to par and played a strong role last season. That unit kept the team in several critical moments throughout 2024. However, the offense was stagnant, and it needs to improve in 2025 because the AFC is becoming increasingly competitive.
The formula for the Chiefs to be explosive
Last season, Patrick Mahomes was sacked 36 times, the highest of his NFL career. However, in the preseason, Chiefs Head Coach Andy Reid made sure this would not happen again, which is vital for the offense to regain its explosiveness.
The key will be protecting Patrick Mahomes, which will also allow the running game to be effective with a fully healthy Isiah Pacheco. If that part of the offense functions well, the rest could fall into place immediately. This was written by Matt Harmon of Yahoo Sports:

The reality is that a very challenging season is ahead for the Kansas City Chiefs.
