Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce have a serious problem that could be solved by a few unexpected firings

Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce are facing a new off-field headache as their co-owned steakhouse, 1587 Prime, draws growing scrutiny, with a viral review raising questions about service, timing, and the overall dining experience.

The Kansas City Chiefs stars’ steakhouse was already dealing with a trademark lawsuit last month, but attention spiked on March 22 after content creator Nicole Rose posted a TikTok detailing her disappointing dinner, which turned a special night into frustration.

Rose recounted visiting 1587 Prime with friends, including one leaving for the Army, and described how the evening quickly soured when her martini arrived 45 minutes late, and even then, it wasn’t the drink she had ordered, leaving guests confused and frustrated.

“We just wanted to get out of there,” Rose said in the TikTok explaining that staff never clarified how the bar cart experience worked, and that service missteps persisted throughout the night, compounding delays and dissatisfaction.

The experience worsened when a server dropped off forms and disappeared, leaving guests waiting 25 minutes for martini preparation tableside, while Rose noted her $33 drink was poorly executed, and other orders, including fried chicken, arrived out of sequence.

Rose added that her main dish, the steak, was forgotten, causing one friend to finish hers before the sauces arrived, while Rose herself hesitated to cut into her $100 steak, which was incorrectly cooked and left her struggling to locate staff for assistance.

Even before Rose‘s viral post, food critic Liz Cook had criticized 1587 Prime after two visits, pointing to overcooked or thin steaks and missing steak knives, highlighting a pattern of service and quality issues that undermined the high price point, with steaks reaching $78 each.

Despite criticism, Rose did praise a few items, calling the broccolini with chili “ten out of ten” and the Parker House rolls “hands down the best rolls I’ve ever had at any restaurant,” although she still compared the restaurant unfavorably to Chicago’s Gibson’s.

Kelce opens up on why he returned for 2026 NFL season

Travis Kelce finished last season with 78 catches for 851 yards and five touchdowns, and he reflected on his decision to return for the 2026 NFL season, citing team improvements and leadership as key factors in his choice.

The tight end emphasized that Patrick Mahomes‘ expected recovery from injury and the return of key coaching personnel contributed to his commitment, while also noting that the overall structure and direction of the team played a major role.

“I knew that Pat was going to be Pat,” Kelce said on the New Heights podcast. “And he’s gonna work his f***ing tail off to get back and be at his best. I knew that was a no-brainer.

“I knew Coach Reid was gonna make adjustments. I knew Veach (Brett, General Manager) is gonna do his best to get the best guys in here.

“We’ve got Eric Bieniemy, one of my favorite coaches of all f***ing time, coming back into the building.

“But outside of I wanted to take a step back from all of that, because that adds to the emotion of wanting to play again. You list these pros and cons, and all of a sudden, we get all these good pieces. So once I let that kind of settle, and the coaches and the Kansas City Chiefs knew all that going into the offseason.”

Kelce also cited the passion and work ethic of his fiancé, Taylor Swift, for motivating him.

“We share the same love for what we do, and we’ve had this, you know, fortunately, we’ve had this desire since we were kids in our selective professions,” Kelce said on a recent appearance the The Pat McAfee Show.

“It’s just, it’s amazing to see her keep going to the table, keep finding new things to write about, keep finding, you know, new melodies and things like that. And on top of that, still seeing her have that love and joy in what she does.”
