Patients at Buffalo Children’s Hospital send support to Josh Allen after loss to Broncos

Buffalo Bills fans and players are still processing the painful overtime defeat in the divisional round of the playoffs against the Denver Broncos, 30-33, on Saturday, January 17.

Josh Allen saw the dream he has been chasing for seven consecutive years slip away. The pain and sadness were evident after the game, but recently the quarterback received support and affection from a group of loyal and special fans.

Children at Buffalo Children’s Hospital cheer on Allen

Since being selected as the seventh overall pick in the 2018 NFL draft, Allen has pursued the dream of winning his first Vince Lombardi Trophy with Buffalo. For the past seven seasons, the QB has led the team to the playoffs, but has yet to play in a single Super Bowl.

Allen and the Bills tried to break this losing streak this season, even taking the game into overtime, but were ultimately defeated. “It’s extremely difficult. I feel like I let my teammates down tonight,” Allen said at a post-game press conference.

However, the QB’s teammates dismissed this idea and supported Josh without hesitation. But they weren’t the only ones trying to cheer up the current NFL MVP.

The children at Golisano Children’s Hospital of Buffalo (formerly Oishei Children’s Hospital), where the 29-year-old quarterback supports the hospital’s intensive care team through the “Patricia Allen” fund in honor of his late grandmother, wanted to make Josh smile.

On Facebook, they shared a heartwarming video in which several children sent loving and encouraging messages and expressed their gratitude for the QB’s work at the hospital and on the field:

“Hi Josh, thanks so much for a great season and all you do for Children’s Hospital,” said one of them.

“Hey Josh Allen, thank you for supporting kids like me,” said a second child.

“Hey, I’m also bummed about the Bills’ loss, but we keep winning because you keep supporting kids like me and Children’s Hospital,” said another hopefully.

“Hi Josh, thanks for a great season,” thanked a girl, blowing kisses and forming a heart with her hands.

“Thanks Josh, you’re amazing and we love you!” said another little girl.

“Josh, you’re my MVP,” “All of Buffalo loves you, Josh! GO BILLS!” said three other children.

Fortunately, since the Bills game, the hospital announced that “more than 3,800 gifts have been made to the Patricia Allen Fund – totaling $91,000 and counting.”

Meanwhile, the Bills quarterback closed out a great season, but one that was overshadowed by this defeat. In 17 regular-season games, he completed 69.3% of his passes for 3,668 yards, with 25 touchdowns and 10 interceptions, in addition to rushing 112 times for 579 yards and 14 rushing touchdowns.
