As soon as Pat Murphy signed as the Milwaukee Brewers’ new manager in November of 2023, just few were surprised in the world of baseball. However, everyone else was thinking it was overdue. Seven years as the team’s bench coach to Craig Counsell were behind Murphy before he was handed the keys to guide Milwaukee’s clubhouse into a new age.

Now, almost two years into his tenure, enthusiasts would like to learn more than his game-management choices. Some of the most Google-searched questions are: How much money does Pat Murphy make? and What is his net worth?

Murphy’s contract and salary information

According to Sportskeeda, Murphy signed for three years in 2023, when he was a Brewers manager. Terms of the salary were not made public though, which is a typical procedure for Major League Baseball managers whose contracts typically are not disclosed.

While there have been no reported numbers, MLB sources estimate that a manager with Murphy’s level of experience and team performance probably makes in the range of $1 million to $2 million annually. That figure is in line with what mid-market MLB clubs such as the Brewers pay their managers.

Before becoming the top man, Murphy was the bench coach of Milwaukee from 2016 to 2023, developing solid relationships with players and assisting in the development of one of the National League’s most stable lineups.

What we do know about Pat Murphy’s net worth

Murphy’s net worth is not officially published anywhere, although media outlet Essentially Sports estimates it at probably be in the low seven figures, based on years of compensation in college and pro baseball.

Before joining the Brewers, Murphy had spent several years in NCAA baseball working for teams like Arizona State University and Notre Dame. His experience in college, combined with his managing and coaching in MLB, provides him with a strong financial background, despite not being among the highest-paid managers in the league.

Unlike more publicity-savvy players like Joe Maddon or Dusty Baker, Murphy has maintained a relatively low profile in his public life, dedicating more interest in player development and game strategy than in high endorsements or media contracts. That is the reason why it is hard to estimate a precise figure, though industry observers estimate his overall career earnings so far may top $5 million.

A long road to the big leagues

When Craig Counsell departed for the Chicago Cubs in 2023, Murphy’s appointment as manager was seen as the obvious choice. Players embraced the hire, describing him as “a players’ manager” who brings energy, humor, and honesty to the table.

In his first complete season as a manager, Murphy guided the Brewers to their second National League Central Division title and solidified himself as a steady and capable figure. His coaching approach is built around trust, communication, and flexibility, elements that have held the Brewers steady in a strong division.

Pat Murphy may not be the wealthiest manager in the MLB, but his influence in Milwaukee cannot be denied. With a multi-year deal, a great clubhouse environment, and a winning record, he has guaranteed money security as well as great respect among the brotherhood of baseball.
