Pat McAfee has built a reputation on energy, excitement, and unpredictability. Whether it’s delivering fiery sports takes on The Pat McAfee Show, causing a stir with Aaron Rodgers‘ latest controversy, or getting slammed around in WWE rings, McAfee never shies away from doing the unexpected.
Now, in yet another surprising twist, the former NFL punter has taken on the world of Supercross, trading microphones and wrestling moves for dirt bikes.
The transition might seem out of left field, but for McAfee, who thrives on spectacle, it makes perfect sense. Over the past week, he has been teasing fans with hints of his involvement in Supercross, and now, the full picture has been revealed. Not only did he get an up-close look at the sport, but he also got on a dirt bike himself-guided by none other than Supercross star Colt Nichols.
McAfee’s Supercross debut
McAfee is no stranger to pushing boundaries, but hopping on a dirt bike for the first time is a new challenge, even for him. The former Indianapolis Colts punter, known for breaking stereotypes in the NFL, took his shot at riding alongside Nichols, a decorated Supercross competitor.
Nichols, who boasts titles like the 2021 250SX East Championship and the 2023 AMA 450SX Rookie of the Year, helped introduce McAfee to the fast-paced, high-flying world of motocross.
While he may not have been a seasoned rider, McAfee’s first attempt was far from a disaster. He even shared his excitement with his fans in classic McAfee fashion, posting on Instagram: “BIG THANKS to @_coltnichols.. for the conversation and the pony brother. First time on a dirt bike.. I’m used to heavy bikes.. I had an absolute blast (3rd Slide is abaht the action) DA-DADADA-DA-DADADA.”
Supercross has always been an adrenaline-fueled sport, yet it often struggles to break through to the mainstream. While hardcore motocross fans know the excitement that comes with the sport, getting casual sports viewers to tune in has been a challenge.
