Paige Spiranac’s ‘hot’ opinion that could shake up the world of golf: ‘This is going to cause a stir’

Former professional golfer Paige Spiranac has stirred discussion within the golf community with her latest opinion on how tee boxes should be assigned.

In a recent X (formerly Twitter) post, Spiranac suggested that a golfer’s handicap should dictate their tee box selection, rather than allowing players to choose based on personal preference.

The 31-year-old, who turned professional in 2015 and competed on the Cactus Tour, shared her thoughts in a video she described as a “smokin’ hot take”, anticipating that it would “ruffle some feathers” among golf enthusiasts.

Spiranac proposed a structured approach to tee selection, arguing that assigning tee boxes based on skill level rather than choice would speed up play and enhance the overall experience for golfers.

“The tee box that you play in a golf box should be decided by your handicap, not your personal preference,” Spiranac said.

“If you show up to the golf course without a handicap, then you should play the forward tees. If you wanna play the tips, then you have to be a sub-three handicap.”

She believes this mandatory system would eliminate unnecessary delays caused by amateur golfers playing from tees that exceed their skill level.

“I think this will improve pace of play and people will have a lot more fun,” she added.

“It will also take away the decision on where they want to play or not play, it is decided by your handicap. If you want to play forward, fine, but you can’t play back until you improve your handicap.”

Spiranac’s Continued Influence in Golf

Since stepping away from professional golf in 2019, Paige Spiranac has built a massive following as one of the sport’s biggest influencers. She regularly shares instructional content, golf insights, and industry opinions across her platforms, where she has cultivated a loyal audience.

Her YouTube channel, featuring golf tutorials and tips, has 438,000 subscribers, while her Instagram boasts over 4 million followers. She also maintains a strong presence on X, with over 1 million followers engaging with her golf-related discussions.

Beyond her controversial take on tee selection, Spiranac continues to educate and entertain her audience.

In a recent YouTube video, she provided a detailed breakdown of grip techniques, explaining the pros and cons of the 10-finger grip, overlap grip, and interlock grip. While she favors the overlap grip, she encouraged golfers to experiment and choose what best suits their swing style.

Spiranac‘s latest stance on tee box selection has sparked mixed reactions. Some agree that structuring tee assignments based on handicap would improve the pace of play, while others argue that golf should remain a flexible and recreational experience for all players.

Regardless of the differing opinions, one thing is clear-Paige Spiranac continues to shape conversations in the golf world, bringing fresh perspectives and engaging with fans in ways that extend far beyond the course.
