Paige Spiranac is so used to dealing with internet trolls that she even takes the liberty of defending other women from the constant negativity of social media. In recent days, the famous influencer did just that when she took on a hater who attacked actress Sydney Sweeney.
Spiranac is one of the most famous faces of sports on Instagram and other social media. The model and former professional golfer boasts almost four million followers on Instagram, 1.6 million on TikTok, and 360,000 subscribers on YouTube, among others.
Her videos sharing golf tips in tiny outfits are among the favorites of fans and non-fans of this sport. Nevertheless, Spiranac’s beauty and talent come with their fair share of haters and harassers, but the influencer knows how to deal with them, as she just did to defend Sweeney.
A brief battle on the Internet
An X (formerly Twitter) user under the name Nuclear Caudillo posted several photos of Sydney Sweeney in a bikini, with the caption, “All women are catfishes. The question is to what degree.” It should be remembered that “catfish” is slang for a person who creates a false identity online to deceive others.
Spiranac was quick to jump on the scene in defense of the “Madame Web” actress, saying, “Sydney Sweeney is hot and her body looks good here.” It should be noted that the actress looks good in her photos, and no one can quite figure out what the troll was referring to, although some users assume that he was referring to her weight.
Spiranac’s response earned immediate approval from her followers, with 380 responses, five thousand likes, and 275,000 views so far.
The response from netizens
Among the first reactions to Spiranac’s post, one follower requested her “Please God, tell me you don’t encounter that kind of insane scrutiny,” to which she replied, “Oh, I definitely do, lol.” Others supported her defense of Sweeney with comments like “You’re correct, Paige!!!” or “So, we all agree then.”
The original post, on the other hand, generated a wave of rejection among users. However, as is often the case in these situations, the troll enjoyed the rejection, responding with sarcasm and cynicism to each claim. As the old Internet saying goes, it is best not to feed the trolls.
