Paige Spiranac’s disappearance from social media causes great concern: ‘I am in a bit of a funk’

For someone who has built a career on connection and constant engagement, even a brief silence can spark alarm.

That’s exactly what happened when Paige Spiranac, one of golf’s most recognizable online personalities, noticeably slowed her once-steady stream of social media posts.

The 32-year-old influencer boasts more than four million followers on Instagram and millions more across X, YouTube and TikTok. Known for blending golf instruction, candid commentary and lifestyle content, Paige Spiranac has become one of the sport’s most visible digital ambassadors.

So when her accounts grew quieter than usual, fans immediately began asking questions – and in many cases, offering prayers and support.

Speculation grew until Spiranac decided to address the situation directly during a fan Q&A on her Instagram Story. Rather than sidestepping the concern, she offered an honest and vulnerable explanation.

“I am in a bit of a funk, a rut if you will, and its not like a one or two day thing,” Spiranac said.

“This has been going on for a little bit. I feel like I’ve just been so in my head about everything and I’m just trying to work through it. I think that’s why I haven’t been posting as much because I am just overthinking everything and I just feel like my anxiety has taken control.

“I’m trying to push myself outside of that and post more and get back to what I was doing before. I feel like I haven’t been active because I’ve just been in my own head, in this kind of funky rut and we’re working through it.”

Balancing fame, criticism and authenticity

Spiranac’s openness resonated because her career has often unfolded under intense public scrutiny. A former college golfer at the University of Arizona and San Diego State University, she initially gained attention for her play before transitioning into a full-time media personality.

Over the years, she has spoken candidly about online criticism, body shaming and the pressures of maintaining a public persona.

In her recent comments, she acknowledged that part of her struggle has stemmed from feeling misunderstood.

“I almost felt bad for myself for such a long time and I was frustrated why people weren’t seeing me in a certain way or seeing me for me,” she said. “And then I realized that they’re only seeing what I’m showing.

“I can sit there and I can complain about it, or I can do something about it. And that’s showing more of myself and my personality. I think that I put so many walls up because this job can be draining sometimes and quite soul-sucking. I think I put barriers up to protect myself and started to morph and change into a person that I didn’t really recognize and that I didn’t see as well.

“This year it’s more about showing and less explaining and trying to defend myself and just being who I am.”

Spiranac also revealed she has stepped back from playing golf recently, adding another layer to her reset. For an athlete-turned-influencer whose brand centers on the sport, that pause is significant.

Mental health conversations have become more common in sports and entertainment, with athletes across professional leagues speaking out about anxiety, burnout and the weight of public expectations.

Spiranac‘s candid remarks place her within that broader movement, one that encourages vulnerability over perfection.

While fans initially feared something more severe behind her disappearance, her message ultimately delivered reassurance.

She is not stepping away permanently; she is recalibrating. And judging by the flood of supportive comments, her willingness to share the reality behind the highlight reel may strengthen her connection with followers even more.

For now, Paige Spiranac appears focused on rediscovering balance, and, as she put it, simply being herself.
