Paige Spiranac shuts down her critics and leaves them speechless after clarifying her role in the Internet Invitational

Paige Spiranac remains one of golf’s most popular figures, largely thanks to her striking presence on social media, where her confident and glamorous posts have earned her millions of followers. She has skillfully leveraged that attention into a thriving personal brand, but with fame also comes constant scrutiny, and this time, she decided to set the record straight.

Recently, Spiranac was involved in the Barstool Internet Invitational, a popular tournament organized by Riggs from Fore Play. Riggs asked Spiranac to assist with the event’s draft and pairings, helping manage the organizational side of the competition.

Meanwhile, Franki, who served as a third presenter, selected Paige as the third pick during the draft because she was already part of the organizing team. That decision, however, confused fans, many of whom mistakenly believed she was competing. The organizers later clarified that her inclusion in the selection process was purely procedural and meant to ensure the event ran smoothly.

Paige Spiranac’s involvement in the event

Spiranac explained that her primary responsibility was administrative: she created spreadsheets to accurately track matchups and results. Because the tournament pairings were not random, someone had to coordinate schedules, balance matches based on player performance, and assign teams strategically.

With that in mind, Paige joined Riggs to assist in managing those pairings and player selections. She emphasized on her X account that she never played in the tournament and that her role was strictly logistical.

She also made it clear that being listed as the third selection did not mean she occupied that spot in the competition, it was merely part of the system for organizing and tracking participants.

For her part, Spiranac devoted more than 70 hours of unpaid administrative work to make sure the event was properly executed and concluded successfully.

Calm down, I wasn’t gaming the system-I was just doing unpaid tournament ops.

Her response came after widespread misunderstanding, as many failed to realize she was working behind the scenes rather than participating as a player.

More criticism directed at Paige Spiranac

Earlier in 2025, Spiranac also faced backlash for comments she made about the LPGA. She suggested on social media that women’s golf should explore new promotional approaches to attract younger audiences and provide more entertainment value.

Critics took her remarks out of context, misinterpreting them as disparaging toward female golfers. However, her intention, she clarified, was to help the women’s game evolve and reach broader audiences.

Now, with the controversy surrounding her role in the Internet Invitational, Spiranac once again finds herself defending her reputation against baseless assumptions and online backlash.
