Paige Bueckers measures up to Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese: Wings star’s $540 ploy attracts a new sponsor

Paige Bueckers has always treated food with the same competitive edge she brings to the court.

From Taco Bell welcome orders to fierce Dip Wars challenges, she approaches everything with purpose – so it was fitting that her record-setting $540 DoorDash feast after winning the NCAA championship would become legendary.

Fresh off donning the Dallas Wings uniform, Bueckers indulged in 400 boneless wings, fries, veggie sticks, and sauce, paying exactly $540.72 via DoorDash – an act that captured national attention. That unapologetic moment caught the eye of Dallas-based Wingstop, which saw in it both authenticity and marketing gold.

Now, Williams’ wing bounty has turned into sponsorship magic: Wingstop has launched a limited-time “Bueckers Bundle” meal deal, available nationwide for around $17.99.

The package – which mirrors Bueckers’ viral haul – includes six classic hot wings, six Hickory-Smoked BBQ boneless wings, two Garlic Parmesan tenders, a large order of seasoned fries, and two ranch sides.

“Paige is a baller – not just because she’s one of Wingstop’s biggest fans, but because she brings her own unique flavor to the game,” said Mark Christenson, Wingstop’s chief revenue officer.

Bueckers takes the foodie first approach

This partnership builds on Bueckers’ off-court appeal: previously named DoorDash’s first athlete Creative Director and linked to Dunkin’, her food-centric authenticity is rare in professional sports.

“Wingstop has always been part of my routine,” the rookie admitted. “Whether it’s a late-night craving or a big win on the court, Wingstop hits every time.” Such candidness and relatability are her true winning plays.

Her DoorDash indulgence also highlights the impact of NIL earnings – $540 wasn’t pocket change, but it was more than just money well spent.

“The NIL money is, indeed, treating her well. And we love this for her!” noted commentator Soham Kulkarni. Turning a viral food order into a sponsorship is pure 21st-century athlete branding, as Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese have proven with millions earned from endorsements.

By converting her post-title feast into the “Bueckers Bundle,” Wingstop isn’t just selling wings – they’re aligning with a cultural moment. For fans, it offers a personal connection to a rising star; for Paige, it cements her status as both athlete and influencer.

From basketball to business

Bueckers’s rookie season is making waves – a generational talent translating college pedigree into pro promise. What began as a spontaneous celebration has become a branded moment that capitalizes on her growing WNBA stardom.

As she showcases skills and star power on the court, deals like the Wingstop bundle build her public profile off it. For the Dallas Wings, it’s added attention and ticket buzz; for the WNBA, it’s proof of growing commercial appeal.

In an era when athletes are marketers – and markets crave authenticity – Bueckers is a case study. She eats, she wins, she builds deals. And in just one $540 DoorDash order, she showed how to turn everyday moments into extraordinary opportunities.
