Caitlin Clark is no longer the only player to have achieved an important milestone in the WNBA.
During the Dallas Wings‘ (6-14) crushing 102-72 defeat by the Phoenix Mercury,Paige Bueckers and her team said goodbye to their winning streak of three consecutive victories.
In addition, the 23-year-old rookie did not have the best of nights. During the game, she took a hard blow to the head in the first half. Fortunately, her coach, Chris Koclanes, confirmed in a press conference that Paige was “feeling okay” after the impact.
As for the numbers, the 23-year-old rookie did not shine as brightly as usual, scoring 11 points, contributing only two rebounds and three assists in the 24 minutes she was on the court.
And although these figures are not dazzling, they helped the Dallas point guard continue to make history in the league and join Clark in achieving a milestone only reached by the Fever star.
Paige ends Clark’s reign
In her fifteenth WNBA appearance, Bueckers dethroned Caitlin as the only player to average at least 15 points and 5 assists in her first 15 games in the league.
The number one pick in this year’s WNBA draft is averaging 18.2 points and 5.5 assists, while Clark averaged 16.1 points and 6.2 assists.
After CC had to sit out the previous game against the Wings on June 27 due to her left groin injury, her presence in this new matchup is still one of the biggest uncertainties for the game. Clark has already missed five games for this reason.
After hosting the Golden State Valkyries on Wednesday, Indiana will face the Atlanta Dream before taking on Dallas at Gainbridge Fieldhouse on Sunday.
