Dallas Wings guard Paige Bueckers has added another accolade to her debut season, securing the WNBA Rookie of the Month award for August. It marks the third consecutive month she has received the recognition, underscoring her steady impact despite the team’s ongoing difficulties.
The league confirmed that Bueckers averaged 20.3 points, five assists, and 3.7 rebounds over the course of August. Her scoring efficiency and playmaking ability continue to stand out, even as Dallas sits near the bottom of the standings.
Drafted first overall in the 2025 WNBA Draft, Bueckers has quickly established herself as a reliable presence in the backcourt. Across 33 games, she is producing 18.9 points, 5.3 assists, 3.8 rebounds, and 1.6 steals per contest.
She is shooting 46.7 percent from the field and 33 percent from three-point range, while averaging more than 33 minutes per game.
Bueckers has been consistent despite her team’s poor results
Dallas’ team results have offered a stark contrast to Bueckers’ individual success.
The Wings dropped their eighth straight game earlier this week in a 96-71 loss to the league-leading Minnesota Lynx, who improved to 32-8. In that defeat, Bueckers finished with 17 points on 7-of-14 shooting, along with two assists and one rebound.
The Wings currently hold a 9-32 record, with only three fixtures left on the schedule. They continue a four-game road trip Thursday against the Golden State Valkyries, followed by a Sunday meeting with the Los Angeles Sparks, which will be broadcast nationally. Dallas will return to College Park Center next week to close the season against the Phoenix Mercury.
Despite the disappointing team record, Bueckers has delivered individual highlights that have resonated across the league. Earlier in the year, she matched Cynthia Cooper’s 1997 rookie benchmark by scoring 44 points in a single game against the Sparks. That total also stands as the highest scoring performance of the 2025 WNBA season.
The monthly awards highlight her ability to sustain performance levels across an extended campaign. Securing Rookie of the Month in June, July, and now August illustrates her consistency and resilience in a demanding professional environment.
On the radar for years
Her transition from college to the WNBA has been closely watched. At Connecticut, Bueckers was honored with the 2021 Naismith Women’s Player of the Year award.
