Former national champion Paige Bueckers and the Dallas Wings are trying to have a better second half of the 2025 regular season with the journey starting Tuesday versus the Seattle Storm at Climate Pledge Arena.
The Texas team is currently the second to last place in the WNBA with a 6-17 record, just above the Connecticut Sun (3-19). Bueckers‘ currently averaging 18.4 points per game to lead all rookies and rank eighth overall in the league.
The former UConn Huskies mader her WNBA All-Star game on Saturday in Indianapolis, as she became the 10th rookie selected as a starter in the big game. The star shooter finished the contest with six points, two rebounds and eight assists. Not bad at all for the newcomer.
Paige’s girlfriend Azzi Fudd throws terrible first pitch
Paige Bueckers recently made her relationship with UConn Huskies star Azzi Fudd public. The two ballers played together for the 2025 national champions, where they got to share the spotlight and formed a closed bond that went beyond the court.
Fudd was invited to throw the first pitch at the Washington Nationals game on Monday, and the moment was full of personality. Wearing a custom Nats jersey, Fudd – a Virginia native – went for a short wind-up and released a throw that barely made it to the plate. Fans were quick to react online.
The future WNBA star recently launched a podcast with Steph Curry‘s media company, so we are pretty sure that one bad pitch won’t stop her momentum. According to ESPN, she’s the second best prospect for the 2026 Draft, with injuries being the only thing that have held her back.
A change that could help the Wings
The Dallas Wings traded for center Li Yueru on June 14. In 11 games with the franchise, she’s averaging 8.9 points and 7.2 rebounds, including a career-high showing of 15 rebounds in the win over the Atlanta Dream on June 24. She has notched three double-doubles, including a season-high 18 points and 10 boards at Chicago on July 9.
And Dallas newcomers own the top three spots among WNBA rookies in both scoring in assists for the month of July. Paige Bueckers ranks first among all rookies in scoring at 18.4, followed by JJ Quinerly at 16.2 and Aziaha James in third at 12.8.
While No. 1 overall draft pick Paige Bueckers gets a lot of the headlines, two other Dallas Wings rookie guards have been progressing at a rapid pace. Over the first 13 games of the season, Aziaha James averaged just 2.0 points per game, with her highest output being nine points.
