Paige Bueckers drops honest truth straight on a major misconception surrounding her

For a while, many believed the vibe Paige Bueckerscarried at UConn was something she left behind in college. That unmistakable presence, that quiet confidence. But little by little, fans are seeing that essence again – the one that makes her unmistakably Paige Bueckers. It’s the self-assurance that has helped turn her into one of the WNBA’s standout players, and one she clearly knows she embodies.

That confidence was front and center during a recent Unrivaled interview, when she was asked about the craziest thing anyone has ever said to her on the court. Her reaction alone said everything. There was genuine disbelief that someone could even think it, let alone say it out loud. And when she finally addressed it, the response carried just enough sass to remind everyone what they’ve been missing.

A misconception that never made sense

The idea that Paige Bueckers is “too little” is something she simply can’t wrap her head around. During the interview, she made it clear how absurd that claim feels to her, even flexing her muscles as visual proof. She laid out the reality plainly: she’s a big guard, stands at 6 feet tall, and often commands double teams on the block. From her perspective, the narrative doesn’t just feel wrong – it feels completely detached from what actually happens on the floor.

Her expression reflected real frustration mixed with disbelief, as if she still can’t understand how such an obvious contradiction continues to follow her. To her, the reality is the exact opposite, and it’s exhausting to hear something so far removed from the truth repeated again and again.

Letting the game – and the body of work – speak

Bueckers knows her strengths and has no intention of letting anyone undermine them, especially not to her face. Fresh off winning WNBA Rookie of the Year, she’s now stepping into her first run with the 3-on-3 Unrivaled League. As the Dallas Wings star joins this new stage, she does so firmly on top of her game – something underscored by a sidestep three-pointer that recently went viral and served as a quiet message to doubters everywhere.

Her Unrivaled debut with Breeze BC only reinforced that point. Bueckers finished with 24 points as Breeze BC defeated Phantom BC 69-62, once again showing her ability to control the game regardless of setting. After the win, she spoke about the difference in physicality between Unrivaled and the WNBA, further highlighting her comfort navigating contact and intensity.

The numbers back it all up. In her rookie season with the Wings, Bueckers averaged 19.2 points and 5.4 rebounds per game – production that doesn’t come from someone who gets pushed around. Recently, she also headed to Durham, North Carolina, to participate in Team USA training camp alongside names like Caitlin Clark, Angel Reese, JuJu Watkins, and Aliyah Boston. At this point, the misconception says more about those repeating it than about Paige Bueckers herself. She’s shown that being “too little” was never part of the story.
