Paige Bueckers blast teammates for their behavior as the Wings hold WNBA worst record

Paige Bueckers and the Dallas Wings hold the worst record in the WNBA, with an awful 1-11 record which have them at the bottom of the Western Conference.

The Texas team fell at the Las Vegas Aces 88-84 Friday night at Michelob ULTA Arena. The win halted the Aces two-game losing streak as they moved to 5-4 on the year. Meanwhile, the Wings are the only team that has not been able to win at home this season.

Dallas struggles are one of the reasons why they selected rookie guard Paige Bueckers with the No. 1 pick in the 2025 WNBA Draft, with fans believing things might finally be turning around after finishing 9-31 last season. So far, the former UConn Huskies superstar has not been able to inject life into a franchise desperate for wins.

Paige Bueckers blast teammates for their behavior

A national champion herself, Paige Bueckers knows a thing or two about what it takes to engage in a winning mentality and translate that to the basketball court. After all, her addition to the team was a huge momentum-builder for the franchise and team.

That’s probably one of the reasons why the Minnesota native called out some of her teammates who were posting about staying up late and enjoying a pool before a big game for the Wings. Guard/forward DiJonai Carrington and forward NaLyssa Smith were having some fun when they read Bueckers advice, “Go to your rooms, we got a game tomorrow, NEED SLEEP!”.

Carrington’s reaction? “Please don’t get me started on her! Are you back? Are you playing tomorrow? That’s all I wanna know.” Fans had something to say about the Wings players. “Having these two on the same team wasn’t the best idea,” an X user posted. “If I’m the general manager, I’m suspending bout of them for two games because what the hell is this?,” added someone else.

Dallas make a big trade in hope of some success

The Dallas Wings acquired center Li Yueru from the Seattle Storm in exchange for two future draft selections, the Texas team announced. The Storm will receive Dallas’ 2026 second round pick, which includes the right to swap with the Connecticut Sun, and Dallas’ 2027 third round pick, which includes the right to swap with the Indiana Fever.

Yueru, a 6-foot-7 center, brings both size and experience to Dallas’ frontcourt. Over nine games in Seattle this season, she is shooting 50-percent from three and nearly 92-percent from the free-throw line. Yueru landed in Seattle after being traded from the Los Angeles Sparks on February.

Yueru‘s professional career began in China, playing for the Guangdong Dolphins of the Women’s Chinese Basketball League in 2015. The 26-year-old was selected 35th overall by the Atlanta Dream in the 2019 WNBA Draft, but made her debut in the 2022 season with the Chicago Sky following a pair of trades.
