Friday night was an important one for the Dallas Wings and the WNBA as a whole. It was the opening night for the league’s 2025 season, and it featured Paige Bueckers‘ debut for the Wings. While the Wings fell to the Minnesota Lynx, the hype around Bueckers’ debut was palpable.

Fans sold out the Wings’ arena and many others tuned in to watch the former UConn star on the big stage. Bueckers has cultivated an impressive fanbase due to her immense talent and overall mentality. She knows how to get people talking on and off the court, and it was the latter that rung true on Friday night.

Fans don’t understand why Paige Bueckers’ backpack is so large

While Bueckers arrived for her debut, fans couldn’t help but notice that she once again was carrying an enormous backpack. Some fans joked that the backpack is “bigger than her”.

Bueckers likely brings a pair or two of her shoes in there, as well as clothes for after the game. Still, it’s a massive backpack by most measures.

While many were focused on the backpack, Bueckers had work to do on the court. Unfortunately, Bueckers’ debut didn’t go as planned. She struggled with her shot, shooting 30% from the field and missing both of her three-point attempts. Her teammates couldn’t pick up the slack either, leading to a 15-point loss to the Lynx.

Dallas will have another home game next to pick up their first win of the season, against the Seattle Storm on Monday night.
