Manny Pacquiao returns this Saturday, July 19, to the place that made him famous. The Filipino boxer gets back in the ring to fight for the WBC welterweight world title against Mario Barrios. After four years away from the media spotlight and without fighting, the man who has been a 12-time world champion returns with the intention of becoming, at 46 years of age, the oldest champion in history in the category.
During these years in which he has stayed away from the ring, the Filipino has been generating a great fortune to complement the large sums of money he has earned as a fighter throughout his life.
It is estimated that Pacquiao earned $200 million in the ring, which could be added to the $50 million earned from sponsorships and $30 million from his businesses.
Among his businesses, there are a number of services in different guilds. For example, his boxing promotion company, MP Promotions, which was founded in 2006 and is based in General Santos. Great fighters such as Mark Magsayo and Isaac Cruz have come out of this stable.
Pacquiao was a senator of the Republic of the Philippines for six years
He maintains more sports-related businesses with his ownership of the Maharlika League, a semi-professional basketball competition in the Philippines.
Pacquiao also entered the brick-and-mortar sector, creating MP Property Development & Pacman Construction, a real estate and construction company based in his hometown of General Santos. He also owns a gas station in the city.
Regarding broadcasting, Manny Pacquiao owns FM frequency 91.1 with his station named Radio Pacman. Finally, he has investments in different fields, such as technology startups for car rental, software development and even created his own cryptocurrency, ‘Pac token’.
Although there is no financial remuneration for this, it is worth mentioning his position as a senator in the Republic of the Philippines for six years, from 2016 to 2022, managing to garner 16 million votes, although this period was marked by criticism for his continued absences.
