One of Mahomes’ worst foes offers himself to Eagles to extend Philadelphia’s reign

After hoisting the Lombardi Trophy, the Philadelphia Eagles are now back to work, facing a tougher offseason reality.

Nick Sirianni‘s goal is to reinforce a championship roster with players who can deliver when the stakes are highest. And amid swirling speculation and roster reshuffling, a familiar name has stepped up with a bold offer-veteran safety Justin Simmons.

Simmons, one of the most productive safeties over the past decade, has made his intentions crystal clear.

“Going to Philly with Vic, you know exactly what you’re getting out of me,” Simmons said, referring to Eagles defensive coordinator Vic Fangio, who coached him during his prime in Denver.

The message wasn’t just a nostalgic nod-it was a strategic pitch to join a team on the hunt for back-to-back titles.

Simmons wants a winner

The 30-year-old safety brings experience and production to the table. Over his nine-season NFL career, Simmons has started 124 of his 134 games, racking up 32 interceptions, 71 passes defended, 4.5 sacks, and 666 total tackles-479 of them solo.

Perhaps most intriguingly for Eagles fans, six of those picks came against none other than Patrick Mahomes, whose Chiefs are once again gunning for revenge in 2025.

Simmons‘ familiarity with Fangio‘s system, forged during their time together in Denver from 2019 to 2021, adds to the potential synergy.

Despite signing a four-year, $61 million deal with the Broncos in 2021-with $35 million guaranteed-he was released early, landing with the Falcons on a one-year, $8 million contract last season. Now a free agent again, Simmons is searching for the right opportunity.

Appearing recently on the Up & Adams show with Kay Adams, Simmons was candid about what he wants in his next chapter.

“I want to go to the best situation, and I want to go to a team that’s gonna win,” he said.
