Olivia Dunne reveals Paul Skenes’ secret talent that surpasses any play by the Pirates pitcher

Paul Skenes is known for his dominant pitching, but his girlfriend, Olivia Dunne, recently showcased a different skill that goes beyond the mound – and it’s one she might prefer.

The Pittsburgh Pirates ace excels at styling hair, proving he is talented both on and off the field according to Dunne, who won the national championship in gymnastics for the LSU Tigers.

On Monday, September 15 the 22-year-old posted a video capturing Paul carefully arranging her hair in front of a bathroom mirror as she held her phone with a smile whilst he displayed the deftness one would expect from a pitcher.

“Get yourself a man that does your hair,” Dunne said, before she also referred to him as “a man of many talents,” highlighting a softer, unexpected side of the Pirates‘ rising star.

The weekend prior, Olivia had traveled to Baton Rouge to revisit her alma mater, LSU, and attended the Tigers‘ football game against Florida, and during the visit, she also received her 2025 SEC Championship ring.

She was a part of the roster that claimed the prize, although her actual year was damaged by injury as she suffered an avulsion fracture in her knee, limiting her fitness and availability.

Her sister, Julz Dunne, also shared that Olivia and her travel companions missed their flight due to forgetting her ID, adding a relatable human moment to the celebrations.

Pirates deny Yankees Paul Skenes trade

While Skenes thrives off the field, he remains a cornerstone for the Pirates on the mound, and despite interest from other MLB teams, Pittsburgh has no plans to trade him away from PNC Park.

Jon Heyman reported that the New York Yankees attempted to acquire Skenes at the July trade deadline, even proposing a package including top prospects George Lombard Jr. and Spencer Jones.

According to Heyman, the Yankees were reportedly willing to negotiate the trade only if it included ones, currently ranked No. 87 among MLB prospects, while Lombard Jr., a 20-year-old infielder, is No. 24 overall.

With Skenes posting a 1.92 ERA, 2.52 FIP, and 203 strikeouts across 178 innings in 30 starts this season, Pittsburgh’s front office, led by GM Ben Cherington, firmly declined the offers.

Skenes has been the lone standout on a Pirates team struggling to find success, as the franchise clinched its seventh consecutive losing season with a 64-83 record. Even with his exceptional performances, the team is projected to finish around 70 wins.

That perfectly illustrates how Skenes‘ individual excellence surpasses the broader team challenges whilst off the field, Paul continues to impress, balancing his professional achievements with personal attentiveness.

Olivia’s recent post revealed a glimpse of this softer side, showing that beyond his fastball and strikeout totals, Skenes‘ talents extend into everyday life, whether that’s dominating MLB lineups or styling hair for his partner.
