Olivia Dunne reveals her secret to maintaining a healthy online presence and avoiding haters

Olivia Dunne has firmly established herself as one of college sports’ biggest internet celebrities and highest earners from NIL deals.

After five impactful years with LSU‘s gymnastics program, Dunne has transitioned from the mat to expanding her brand and endorsement portfolio.

Though her gymnastics career ended in April 2025, Dunne remains a powerful influencer and continues to seek new opportunities beyond athletics.

Recently, Dunne accompanied her boyfriend, Pittsburgh Pirates pitcher Paul Skenes, to MLB All-Star Week in Atlanta.

The couple made a notable entrance on the red carpet, showcasing their support for one another. On July 15, Dunne was seen in the stands at Truist Park enthusiastically cheering Skenes during his start for the National League in the Midsummer Classic-marking his second straight All-Star appearance.

Handling online criticism with confidence

Despite her success and visibility, Dunne has faced her fair share of online criticism as a self-made social media personality. On WWE star Stephanie McMahon‘s “What’s Your Story” podcast, Dunne discussed how she manages the negative side of fame with maturity and control.

“I’m going to be completely honest. Either you have to ignore them or block them,” Dunne said candidly.

“I’ve no shame in blocking people or unfollowing. If you are getting hate and you don’t want to see it, you have control over your account. That’s the fun part of social media-you get to share what you want, and you get to not share what you don’t want to share.”

She added that negativity often surfaces when she is on the verge of a breakthrough.

“The more you do right, the more people try to knock you down. Whether it’s a Sports Illustrated cover or a major collaboration, there are always people trying to tear you down. I don’t know if it’s jealousy or what, but usually, a breakthrough is right around the corner.”

Through this perspective, Dunne has become a role model not just for aspiring influencers but also for anyone navigating the pressures of public scrutiny.

While balancing her own career, Dunne remains an unwavering source of support for Skenes. The Pirates‘ rising star pitched a scoreless first inning at the All-Star Game, striking out two batters and demonstrating his elite potential.

Although his win-loss record this season stands at 4-8, his performances have reflected much more dominance than the stats suggest.

Skenes, a native of Fullerton, California, is expected back on the mound soon, possibly during Pittsburgh‘s next series at PNC Park against the Detroit Tigers.

As his career ascends in MLB, having Dunne in his corner adds strength both on and off the field.

Together, Olivia Dunne and Paul Skenes embody the modern-day athlete couple-balancing public careers and personal support amid the challenges and triumphs of professional sports and social media fame.
