Olivia Dunne denied purchase of Yankees legend’s New York home: “People voted to not have me live there”

What was supposed to be her first property purchase ended on a bitter note for former gymnast and social media star Olivia Dunne. Everything seemed set for her to acquire the former apartment of New York Yankees legend Babe Ruth, located on Manhattan’s Upper West Side, until the deal was abruptly blocked.

It’s estimated that the LSU graduate earned around $9.5 million during her time at the university, and now that she was ready to invest in her first home-possibly one she planned to share with her boyfriend, Pittsburgh Pirates pitcher Paul Skenes, she was unexpectedly denied the opportunity.

What Livvy Dunne said about the failed purchase

After the $1.59 million sale fell through, the former athlete, influencer, and entrepreneur expressed her frustration over the situation. The Sports Illustrated model appeared genuinely disappointed, especially since everything seemed to be progressing smoothly, until the residents of the building reportedly gave a resounding “no” to her moving in.

I get a call. The co-op board denied me,” Olivia Dunne told her eight million followers in a video titled, “I’m just disappointed, that’s all.

The former gymnast also added:

Pretty much the people in the building voted to not have me live there, which is fine.

Had the residents approved her application, the apartment would have marked her first real estate purchase. But ultimately, she was denied that milestone.

Details of the property Olivia Dunne couldn’t buy

Located at 345 88th Street, the apartment hit the market this past March. It sits on the seventh floor and features three bedrooms and two and a half bathrooms. According to the New York Post, the unit includes high ceilings, oak floors, ample storage space, a modern open-concept kitchen, and multiple closets.

Plans that never materialized

Dunne and Skenes had already envisioned life in the apartment. They had begun planning the décor and even hired an interior designer, but the neighbors’ decision put an end to all of it.

It got to the point where the realtor was so confident, Paul and I went, I got an interior designer because I didn’t want to bring my college furniture to Babe Ruth’s apartment, that would be like, criminal.

Dunne said.

The model admitted she had no clear understanding of why the purchase was denied.

Honestly, it wasn’t financial. It could have been, for all I know, they could have been Alabama fans and I went to LSU,

Maybe they didn’t want a public figure living there, but I was literally supposed to get the keys, and that week they denied me.

She added.

Perhaps Livvy’s fame was the deciding factor. It’s possible the neighbors didn’t want their quiet reality disrupted by the presence of paparazzi outside their building.
