Deion Sanders finds himself with egg on his face as an old post comes back to haunt Coach Prime, after the Colorado Buffaloes coach insisted his son, Shedeur, would be a top-five pick in the 2025 NFL Draft.
At one stage in the build-up to the draft, the 22-year-old held an outside chance of becoming the overall first-pick but now two days since the ceremony got underway in Green Bay, he finds himself outside of the top 100.
Disaster has struck as the quarterback continues to drop down the order and now finds himself outside of the top five picks in his own position, continuously blanked by the likes of the New York Giants, Cleveland Browns and Pittsburgh Steelers.
And for the 57-year-old Deion, who won two Super Bowls, he has to take an embarrassing old post on the chin in which he had far higher expectations of his kid than the 32 teams in the NFL did.
“He will be a top 5 pick. Where yo son going ? Lololol I got time today. Lololol,” Sanders said on X.com (formerly Twitter) in May 2024, after an anonymous fan mocked Shedeur‘s 2023/24 season with the Buffaloes when they finished with a 4-8 record.
What initially seemed to be a joyous celebration at the end of the 2024/25 NCAA season after the Buffaloes made the Alamo Bowl, with Sanders passing for 37 touchdowns on the way, it is now souring.
The reality of this situation can even be seen on Deion’s face too. When Travis Hunter was picked second, the Heisman Trophy-winning star of the Buffaloes, Coach Prime clapped but seemed very detached from the moment.
It cuts the image of someone who knew heading into the 2025 NFL Draft that Shedeur didn’t have an agreement in place with any of the teams and has his future hanging in the balance before any professional debut.
Did Brady block Sanders to Raiders?
For much of 2024, it seemed as though Sanders could be heading to the Allegiant Stadium to link up with the Las Vegas Raiders after getting close with the franchise owner, and Tom Brady too.
Brady, an investor and key figure in the organization, also worked closely with Sanders in private camps in a bid to level up his talent ahead of the ongoing 2025 NFL Draft in Wisconsin.
However, Skip Bayless now believes he’s the reason why Shedeur isn’t going to Nevada; accusing the seven-time Super Bowl champion of blocking the 22-year-old’s path to the Raiders, who now have Geno Smith.
“It is now pretty clear Tom Brady – who mentored Shedeur – told the Raiders NOT to take Shedeur. Duly noted,” Bayless posted to X.com, making the outlandish accusation against the ex-Buccaneers QB.
