OJ Simpson’s estate has declined Kim Kardashian’s $15,000 offer to purchase a Bible inscribed by her late father, Robert Kardashian. The SKIMS founder, who has openly shared her admiration for her father, reportedly tried to acquire the Bible that contained a personal note from him to Simpson, written the day after he was arrested for the murder of his ex-wife, Nicole Brown Simpson, and her friend, Ronald Goldman.
Kim Kardashian’s offer, however, was rejected by OJ Simpson’s estate manager, Malcolm LaVergne, who is overseeing the late football star’s assets following his passing in April 2024. Speaking to the media, LaVergne explained that selling the Bible to Kardashian for $15,000 would not have been a smart financial decision.
A deal that didn’t make sense
“Dallas is my home. Made my home there,” LaVergne said. “My family lives there. I’m forever gonna be there. I know for sure I’m not gonna win a Super Bowl there. So, yeah, we here.”
The Bible in question contains a handwritten message from Robert Kardashian to Simpson, dated June 18, 1994, a day after Simpson’s arrest for the infamous murders. Kardashian, who was part of Simpson’s legal defense team during the 1995 trial, remained a close friend of the former NFL star despite the controversy surrounding the case.
A divided family and lingering wounds
Kardashian’s involvement in Simpson’s defense team reportedly led to divisions within his own family. His ex-wife, Kris Jenner, and their children-Kourtney, Kim, Khloé, and Rob-were all close to Nicole Brown Simpson, which made his decision to support Simpson controversial within the family. Jenner previously opened up about this in a 2009 interview, admitting that it was difficult to understand Robert’s unwavering loyalty to his friend.
O.J. Simpson was ultimately acquitted in his criminal trial, but in 1997, a civil court found him liable for the deaths of Brown Simpson and Goldman. The fallen football star passed away in April 2024 at the age of 76, after battling prostate cancer.
Despite her unsuccessful attempt to purchase the Bible from Simpson’s estate, Kim Kardashian still holds on to the deep connection with her father, Robert Kardashian Sr., who passed away from esophageal cancer in 2003 at the age of 59.
