Franco Mastantuono is officially a Real Madrid player. The club has announced the signing of the 17-year-old Argentine pearl, from River Plate. He signs for six years, until 2031.

As MARCA exclusively revealed in recent days, the Spanish club has gone urgently to the market with the intention of signing him. In this operation, Real Madrid has beaten PSG in the fight for this great talent. River Plate demanded that the French club pay his release clause of 45 million euros.

The total amount of the operation, according to River, is $72.6 million, making it the largest transfer in Argentine soccer history.

The rest is distributed as follows:

o €11.8 million (USD 13.6 million): Spanish tax authorities.

o €1.4 million ($1.6 million): Futbolistas Agremiados.

o €0.9 million (USD 1 million): AFA Structural Funds.

o € 3.6 million ($4.1 million): Decree 510/2023.

o € 0.5 million ($0.6 million): other fees.

After a few days of intense activity, Real Madrid decided to follow the steps it took in the signing of Guler two years ago. Juni Calafat’s trip to Buenos Aires was key for the brand new Argentine soccer star to end up giving the yes to Los Blancos.

With the arrival of Franco Mastantuono, Real Madrid continues to strengthen its renowned transfer policy focused on capturing emerging world football talent. The Argentine winger, born in 2007, is considered one of the brightest talents of his generation. He recently became the youngest footballer to make his debut for Argentina after playing his first minutes with the senior team against Chile. His signing is part of the club’s strategy to secure its future by betting on players with extraordinary potential from an early age.

The great pearl of Argentine football

Mastantuono has already left multiple proofs of the quality he possesses and is considered by many to be the greatest talent in Argentine football. The youngster, who is a regular at River, can play as a right winger and as an attacking midfielder. His football usually starts from the wing to the inside, taking advantage of his magnificent left foot with which he usually looks for the shot. He also has no qualms about dropping into the build-up areas to thread the play from deeper positions.

One of the traits that makes Mastantuono so appealing is his great ball striking. Just under two months ago we witnessed this in the match between River Plate and Boca Juniors. The Argentine left his mark by scoring a great free-kick goal from outside the box. Thanks to this goal, he became the youngest player in history to score in a Superclasico

Despite his young age, Mastantuono already shows an unusual maturity for players of his generation. His physical development is above average, which has allowed him to adapt quickly to the intensity of Argentine soccer despite not resembling the classic prototype of a light and electric winger. This combination of physique, technique and determination explains why he has broken into the elite so early and why Real Madrid have not hesitated to bet heavily on his arrival.
