The Indiana Fever has announced that Odyssey Sims will remain with the team for at least another seven days. This marks the second short-term contract signed between both parties, which was made official on Saturday.

The first contract was agreed upon on August 10, and during that period, Sims appeared in two games. In that brief window to showcase her skills, she scored 11 points and dished out three assists in a matchup against the Washington Mystics.

The Fever will return to WNBA action on Sunday, August 17, at 1 p.m., when they face the Connecticut Sun.

A bit of history about Odyssey Sims

The Fever guard was born on July 13, 1992. She plays as a point guard and entered the WNBA through the 2014 draft, where the Tulsa Shock selected her. That franchise would later become the Dallas Wings.

Sims also spent time with the Los Angeles Sparks and the Minnesota Lynx. Before turning professional, she starred at Baylor University, where she collected several accolades, including the Wade Trophy and the Nancy Lieberman Award in 2014.

In that same year, her rookie season in the WNBA, she was part of the United States national team that captured the FIBA World Championship gold medal. She also won gold at the 2013 World University Games, where she shared the tournament MVP award.

From her college career to her professional journey, Sims has consistently produced solid numbers.

College statistics at Baylor

  • Points per game: 17.5
  • Rebounds per game: 3.3
  • Assists per game: 4.4
  • Steals per game: 2.3
  • Field goal percentage: 45.7%
  • Three-point percentage: 40.2%
  • Free throw percentage: 81.0%

Professional statistics (WNBA – Career)

  • Points per game: 11.2
  • Rebounds per game: 2.5
  • Assists per game: 3.8
  • Steals per game: 1.0
  • Field goal percentage: 39.7%
  • Three-point percentage: 27.7%
  • Free throw percentage: 81.5%

The current state of the Indiana Fever

The Indiana Fever sits in third place in the Eastern Conference of the WNBA. The 2025 campaign has been marked by ups and downs due to the constant injuries of their superstar, Caitlin Clark. Despite that, they still hold a winning record at 18-15.

Even while sidelined, Clark remains the team’s scoring leader, averaging 19.2 points. Her return to the court is expected on August 26. The franchise does not want to rush her recovery, preferring to avoid any risk of aggravating the injury.

Clark’s groin issue has prevented her from maintaining consistency this season. However, the cautious approach appears to be paying off, and she could be back in action against the Seattle Storm. Her teammates have managed to keep the Fever afloat in her absence, staying in strong contention for a playoff berth.
