Oasis reunion makes Guardiola really emotional as Manchester City gears up for the Premier League season

The reunion of the Gallagher brothers transcends music ; it’s a cultural moment forging connections. For Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola and his 24-year-old daughter María, Oasis provides a powerful, shared musical connection. This was vividly displayed as the former Barcelona and Bayern coach was seen singing alongside María – a heartwarming “Don’t look back in anger” in the band’s return after a bitter 16-year feud that followed their initial split in 2009.

Oasis, formed in 1991 by the famously siblings Liam and Noel Gallagher, were titans of 1990s UK pop culture. Their era-defining impact from record-breaking sales, electrifying concerts, very public sibling disputes, and their legendary chart battle with Britpop rivals Blur. Their music soundtracked Pep Guardiola’s young years but also to an entire generation who grew with the band.

Marking their first live performances since 2009, the official “Oasis Live ’25” tour promises a monumental return. The initial leg focuses on the UK and Ireland, kicking off at Cardiff’s Principality Stadium on July 4th. The band will then play multiple nights at iconic venues including Manchester’s Heaton Park and London’s Wembley Stadium, with confirmed dates also in Edinburgh and Dublin.

Following the UK and Ireland dates, the Oasis reunion extends across the Atlantic. The extensive North American leg includes major stadium shows in cities such as Toronto, Chicago, East Rutherford (New Jersey), Los Angeles, and Mexico City, bringing their iconic sound back to fans who have waited over a decade and a half for this moment.

A New Premier League Campaign Dawns

Meanwhile, the football world prepares for its own significant event. The 2025-26 Premier League season is scheduled to commence on Friday, August 15th. Defending champions Liverpool will host Bournemouth at Anfield, while Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City face an opening weekend trip to Wolverhampton.

This season marks Manchester City’s 29th consecutive campaign in the Premier League, where they will immediately begin their pursuit of a ninth top-flight title since the league’s rebranding in 1992. An astonishing six of those titles have been secured within the last eight years, cementing Pep Guardiola’s legacy as one of the greatest managers in football history, even as his personal soundtrack finds renewed life with Oasis on the road.
