No White House stop for the Dodgers in April- But there’s a twist

After the Los Angeles Dodgers clinched backtoback World Series championships with their thrilling 2025 title, the next logical step for the franchise appeared to be a visit to the White House to receive recognition from the president.

That tradition, which goes back decades and honors the sport’s champions with a ceremony at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue, is now being delayed due to logistics rather than being avoided altogether.

The Dodgers are scheduled to play the Washington Nationals from April 3-5 in Washington, D.C., a stretch that initially seemed like the perfect window for the customary championship visit.

However, all three games in that early-season series are scheduled as daytime matchups. That timing creates complications for a formal White House celebration, which typically requires several hours of coordination, security planning, and travel logistics.

Because of that tight schedule, the Dodgers determined that a visit during the April series would not be practical.

The team has followed the tradition before. Championship teams across major American sports typically make a trip to the White House after winning a title, and the Dodgers previously participated in a similar visit after their earlier championship run.

According to reporting from Cameron Kiszla of Dodgers Nation, the early-season timing effectively removed the possibility of holding the ceremony during the April road trip.

Kiszla cited reporting from Bill Plunkett of the Orange County Register, who confirmed that the Dodgers would not attend a White House event during the Nationals series.

“The Boys in Blue will be in the nation’s capital to face the Washington Nationals from April 3 to 5,” Kiszla wrote, referencing Plunkett‘s report. “Sources confirmed that the Dodgers will not visit the White House during that time.”

President Donald Trump publicly congratulated the Dodgers on Truth Social shortly after their GameĀ 7 victory, writing, “SEE YOU ALL AT THE WHITE HOUSE!!!” in a November post celebrating the team’s achievement.

Dodgers could still visit the White House later this season

While the April visit will not happen, the celebration itself has not been canceled.

Reports indicate the team may arrange a White House visit later in the summer, potentially during another East Coast road trip. That would give the organization more time to coordinate the ceremony while avoiding the tight scheduling conflicts that exist during the April series.

Dodgers manager Dave Roberts has previously expressed support for continuing the long-standing championship tradition regardless of the political environment.

“For me, it doesn’t matter who is in the office, I’m going to go to the White House,” Roberts said in comments reported by the Los Angeles Times. “I am going to continue to try to do what tradition says and not try to make political statements, because I am not a politician.”

His remarks confirm the Dodgers‘ intention to treat the visit as a celebration of the team’s accomplishments rather than a political moment.

The Dodgers captured the 2025 World Series title after another dominant season, adding to one of the most successful stretches in franchise history. The championship also strengthened the team’s standing as one of baseball’s most consistent contenders.

Beyond the postponed celebration, the Dodgers enter the 2026 campaign with ambitious goals. After securing last year’s title, the organization now faces the challenge of defending its championship for the third time in a row.
