Amid ongoing trade rumors surrounding the Las Vegas Raiders, star wide receiver Davante Adams has addressed head coach Antonio Pierce’s cryptic social media activity.
Fans and analysts have speculated about Adams’ future with the Raiders after Pierce“liked” an Instagram post suggesting that Adams may have already played his final game in silver and black.
What is happening with Davante Adams and the Raiders
Last week, Pierce made comments about “business decisions,” which many linked to the trade speculation surrounding Adams, who missed the Raiders’ most recent game against the Cleveland Browns due to a hamstring injury.
During an appearance on FanDuel TV’s “Up & Adams,” the wide receiver was asked directly if he had heard from his coach since the social media activity gained attention.
“I haven’t heard from him. I haven’t talked to him,”Adams said.
“I don’t really know exactly what that was about. Obviously … social media is a beast, so there’s a lot of people out there that saw it and wondered what’s going on and are reaching out. So yeah, I haven’t spoken to him.”
The lack of communication left even host Kay Adams surprised.
However, the 32-year-old receiver remained composed, saying, “Honestly, it’s hard to comment on. I’m sure you would imagine as such, but it’s one of those situations where I just keep my head down and keep doing my thing and let the chips fall where they may as it pertains to that.”
Adams also mentioned that there had been “no communication” from anyone on the team about the social media controversy, adding that trade speculation is a frequent topic surrounding his name.
“There’s always some sort of drama,” he noted.
“But at the end of the day, 1-7 doesn’t create any of it. I’m just chilling, trying to be the model for not stirring the pot, and just locking in and doing what I gotta do.”
Will Adams play against the Broncos?
As for his hamstring injury, Adams shared that it’s improving, but his availability for the upcoming game against the Denver Broncos remains uncertain.
Trade rumors involving Adams have persisted since the summer, with speculation about a possible reunion with former Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers, now with the New York Jets.
Adams and Rodgers had strong chemistry during their time in Green Bay, fueling speculation that the Jets might pursue the elite receiver to bolster their offense.
The Raiders, currently 2-2 after their win over the Browns, have struggled offensively, ranking 24th in yards and 19th in points scored.
Adams, one of the best wideouts in the league, has naturally been a focal point of trade discussions, especially given the team’s inconsistent performance.
Reports have suggested that the Raiders are open to exploring trade options for Adams, with teams like the Kansas City Chiefs in need of receiver help.
Despite the uncertainty, Adams remains focused.
“It gets annoying for sure,” he admitted.
“I’m one of those players people like to talk about one way or the other. So, thank God that he just blessed me with the ability to just focus in on what I need to focus in on and not get sidetracked by any of the outside noise.”
With Adams’ talent and affordability on the market, teams may soon come calling if the Raiders decide to officially explore trade offers.
However, as of now, Adams is keeping his focus on his recovery and his commitment to the team, whatever the future holds.
