Nikola Jokic is having a great offseason, as the 3-time NBA Most Valuable Player enjoys his time in his native Serbia.

The Joker who declined a contract extension this summer with the Denver Nuggets, has accomplished recognition as one of the best big man in the history of the league.

Jokic scores with ease when he steps on the basketball court, moving his 6’11, 284 pounds frame in the low post and uses a soft touch to finish floaters and leaners. But don’t get it twisted: he can step out beyond the arc and drained huge threes.

Nikola Jokic cries out of joy

The 7-time NBA All-Star let his emotions get the best out of him after one of his horses won a championship race in his beloved Serbia, as we can see in a video that has gone viral in social media. Joker has stated publicly that racing and training horses belongs to his heart and soul. That’s where he’s at peace.

Jokic‘s well-known passion for horses runs deep in his blood, much like golf consumes Stephen Curry. Nikola owns several steeds and operates a stable back home in Serbia. In the offseason he’s more likely to be on the track or the trails of his massive property than in the gym, squeezing his huge frame in a harness.

There are different kinds of disciples in horse racing. Jokic is into harness racing, which goes back centuries, where the horses (Standardbreds) trot, or run at a pace, pulling one driver in a two-wheeled chariot. It’s big in Europe. Once he caught the bug, his time was split between horses and hoops.

A busy offseason for the Denver Nuggets

The Denver Nuggets acquired two versatile veterans, Cam Johnson and Jonas Valaninas, in separate trades. The franchise also agreed to terms on new deals with Tim Hardaway Jr. and fan-favorite swingman, Bruce Brown, in free agency.

Johnson is the headliner of Denver‘s busy summer. The 29-year-old is one of the best shooters in the world, and he’s coming off a breakout 2024-25 season with the Brooklyn Nets. He’s incredibly versatile on offense and it will be a great addition to the Nuggets.

Brown is an exciting addition who won a championship with the franchise in 2023. He’s also beloved by the fanbase, so that’s a match made in heaven. Hardaway Jr. brings a lot of high-level experience to the table and is a dynamic offensive player. He’s also a very strong three-point shooter.
