The Kansas City Chiefs remain the team to beat in the NFL’s American Football Conference (AFC). This claim was supported by the NFL Network, as even with other experts and fans disagreeing, no other franchise has been able to stop Andy Reid’s team, led by Patrick Mahomes.
Yes, the Buffalo Bills, Baltimore Ravens, and Cincinnati Bengals will all be eager to defeat Kansas City, but so far, none have done so in the last three years. And for former NFL running back Rashard Jennings, speaking on Good Morning Football, Kansas City remains the team to beat in the conference.
NFL Network’s case for positioning the Chiefs as AFC favorites:
“Patrick Mahomes, they have Andy Reid, Travis Kelce is still there, they’re bringing back healthy receivers-in short, yes,” Jennings said about whether the Chiefs are AFC favorites. “They’re the best team, they’ve built a dynasty, they made the Super Bowl last year-that’s the only thing they could have done besides win”.
The Chiefs’ aura may have dimmed a bit after the Super Bowl drubbing, but the roster appears to be in top form heading into training camp. The receiving line is healthy (for now), and there’s hope that the offensive line will come together with Jaylon Moore and Josh Simmons as the new pieces ahead of Patrick Mahomes.
Kansas City Chiefs coach weighs in on Travis Kelce’s age
Andy Reid, the three-time Chiefs champion coach, affirmed that his 35-year-old star Travis Kelce is currently in good shape and that he won’t make any concessions about his age. “He’s in great shape right now. There are no concessions about his age. I’m always keeping an eye on him”.
“You can tell he’s been training, he’s lost weight, at least compared to last year. We’ve seen him play very well at his peak weight, like when he’s lighter. This year we hope he’ll be like that again,” said the 67-year-old coach.
