The next Thursday, February 6, will be held the NFL Honors, a ceremony in which the best of the season in professional football in the United States is honored.

At this event, awards are given to the best offensive and defensive players of the year in each conference, the best rookies, the comeback of the year and of course the most important awards, which are the coach and MVP of the season.

The finalists are determined by a voting system designated by the news agency AP, which asks its voters to rate their top five players for MVP and three for the other awards, including Coach of the Year.

The winners, as mentioned above, will be announced at the NFL Honors, which will be held at the Saenger Theater in New Orleans, the host city of Super Bowl LIX.

It is worth mentioning that the master of ceremonies for this year is rapper Snoop Dogg, a well-known American football fan.

Who are the contenders for Coach of the Year?

The nominees for this award are:

  • Dan Campbell, Detroit Lions
  • Kevin O’Connell, Minnesota Vikings
  • Sean Payton, Denver Broncos
  • Dan Quinn, Washington Commanders
  • Andy Reid, Kansas City Chiefs

It is worth mentioning that the betting favorite for this category is coach Quinn of the Commanders, as in his first year as coach of the franchise he led them to a 12-5 record, after a 4-13 record the year before, and got them into the playoffs for the first time since 2020.

Who are the players in contention for MVP?

These are the players nominated for the Most Valuable Player award for the 2024 NFL season:

  • QB Josh Allen, Buffalo Bills
  • RB Saquon Barkley, Philadelphia Eagles
  • QB Joe Burrow, Cincinnati Bengals
  • QB Jared Goff, Detroit Lions
  • QB Lamar Jackson, Baltimore Ravens

In one of the categories that could be among the tightest in recent years, the favorite in the betting houses to win the trophy is Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen, with a betting line of -230.

Allen is followed by Ravens passer Lamar Jackson with a +185 line, who is also looking for his third NFL MVP and second in as many years.
