NFL hits Eagles’ Milton Williams and Jalyx Hunt with fines after Super Bowl win

The Philadelphia Eagles may have secured a dominant victory over the Kansas City Chiefs, but the NFL was quick to impose penalties on two of their players. Defensive lineman Milton Williams and linebacker Jalyx Hunt received fines for their actions during the Super Bowl, reminding everyone that celebrations come at a price.

Williams was fined $14,069 for using a prop in the fourth quarter, an infraction that the league has consistently enforced in recent years. Meanwhile, Hunt was hit with a $5,690 fine for what the NFL classified as a “violent gesture” during the second quarter. While these amounts may not significantly impact the players’ pockets, they serve as a clear warning from the league regarding on-field conduct.

A small fraction of plays under scrutiny

The NFL’s strict stance on excessive celebration and taunting remains a topic of debate among fans and players alike. Out of 119 plays in the Super Bowl, only two resulted in fines, making up just 1.68% of the total action. However, the penalties reinforce the league’s commitment to maintaining discipline, even in the most high-stakes games of the season.

Despite these fines, the Eagles and their fans continue to celebrate their Super Bowl victory. The penalties may be frustrating for Williams and Hunt, but they are unlikely to overshadow the team’s triumph. As the offseason begins, Philadelphia will shift its focus to roster moves and preparations for next season, ensuring they remain a formidable force in the NFL.
