NFL Draft QB Prospects 2025: Who are the top picks for this year’s class and which team will select them?

We are one week away from seeing another edition of the NFL Draft, so teams looking for quarterbacks this year will be paying attention to the prospects that are available. It is worth remembering that in 2024, six QBs were selected in the first round, a record

For the 2025 Draft, there is some very interesting talent in this class. In fact, the top QBs may be selected from day one, while the rest of the prospects will have an NFL team by pick 150 at the latest.

Top quarterbacks for the 2025 NFL Draft

At least eight quarterbacks are projected to be ranked and this is seen as a recognition of the recent history of the NFL Draft. An average of 7.6 QBs were selected in the first 150 picks over the past decade. Only Brock Purdy of the 49ers (famously the last pick in the 2022 draft) has started multiple games in the last three seasons after entering the NFL beyond the top 150

Shedeur Sanders, Colorado

Sanders is the most accurate quarterback in college football. With flat feet in the pocket or on the move, he throws short and intermediate passes with confidence and throws the ball downfield with great touch and trajectory, often leaving his receivers unmarked

  • Experience: 50 openings (23 years)
  • Probable team: Tennessee Titans had the worst record so they will have to take advantage of this “dishonorable” position of privilege

Cam Ward, Miami

Ward is an even more talented passer than Sanders, with a nimble pass that generates impressive speed and accuracy, even on the move. There are spectacular plays on tape that have earned comparisons to Patrick Mahomes.

  • Experience: 57 starts (22 years)
  • The most likely team is the Cleveland Browns or New York Giants, the latter being the most likely as they are looking for a QB in the squad.

Jalen Milroe, Alabama

For a player who threw more touchdowns than anyone in the history of college football, there are still too many late passes over the middle, for example. Pro Football Focus recorded Ward with 18 plays that resulted in turnovers in 2024.

  • Experience: 25 starts (22 years)
  • The New York Jets are likely to be the team looking for a replacement following Aaron Rodgers’ retirement

Kyle McCord, Syracuse

He was particularly good down the stretch, outperforming Ward to upset the Hurricanes and throwing five touchdowns, a career-high, in the bowl win over Washington State.

  • Experience: 26 appearances (22 years)
  • The Miami Dolphins will be looking for a reliable quarterback in case of an injury to Tua Tagovailoa.

Jaxson Dart, Ole Miss

Despite his youth, Dart already possesses a well-proportioned build and a nimble arm. He has a quick delivery and can drop the arm angle to throw around defenders as well as over them

  • Experience: 35 appearances (21 years)
  • The most likely teams are the Denver Broncos or Pittsburgh Steelers, who, although not in urgent need of filling this position, will be looking to be reinforced.

Quinn Ewers, Texas

The doubts about the attack he led will not haunt Ewers in the run-up to the draft; they will be concerns about his size and endurance. Ewers, who missed seven games during his three years in Austin, does not look like a prototypical NFL quarterback.

  • Experience: 36 starts (22 years)
  • The New England Patriots have managed to select good second-round prospects who perform well in their ranks.

Riley Leonard, Notre Dame

Although not as flashy as many others on this list, his gritty play helped propel Notre Dame to the national championship game. As his rushing touchdowns suggest, Leonard is athletic and projects well in an offense.

  • Experience: 41 starts (22 years)
  • The team is likely to be a third or fourth round pick, so any of the 32 teams will be able to secure his services.

Will Howard, Ohio State

Howard’s excellent completion percentage, with 35 touchdowns and just 10 interceptions for the national champion Buckeyes, makes him an excellent rookie on his resume. In addition, he is more corpulent than the other quarterbacks.

  • Experience: 43 starts (23 years)
  • He is projected to be a third or fourth round pick, so any of the 32 teams will be able to secure his services.
