An NFL analyst has suggested a blockbuster move that could send shockwaves through the league and one that Kansas City Chiefs‘ Patrick Mahomes and Andy Reid might dread, by tipping the Baltimore Ravens to trade for Tyreek Hill.
Hill remains one of the most dynamic receivers in the sport, although his numbers dipped slightly last season as he finished with 959 receiving yards and six touchdowns and became a frustrated figure with the Miami Dolphins.
However, that was largely due to the concussion to quarterback Tua Tagovailoa, leaving the star sidelined at the Hard Rock Stadium for large parts of the 2024/25 NFL season and the Dolphins’ offense lost at sea.
Such a move would give Lamar Jackson a gain a deep-threat target like the speedy receiver and thus Baltimore’s passing game could reach unprecedented levels, and Bill Barnwell thinks there’s a very good chance it could actually happen.
“Also said he wanted to be traded earlier this offseason,” Barnwell noted to the Get Up podcast. “Hill is a threat they have not had.
“You want to stretch the safeties, not just with the running game, but with the vertical passing game. Get Tyreek with the Ravens.”
How could it change the NFL?
The trade would create a mouthwatering partnership with star running back Derrick Henry, alongside Jackson. It could take the team to a whole new level and end the Chiefs’ dynasty, whilst becoming the best threat to the new Super Bowl champions, the Philadelphia Eagles.
The potential move carries another layer of intrigue, as Hill would be joining one of the Chiefs’ fiercest rivals. Baltimore and Kansas City have met in high-stakes matchups in recent years, including last season’s AFC Championship Game.
Hill, who has spent the past two seasons in Miami, has yet to recapture the Super Bowl success he experienced in Kansas City. While the Dolphins have made strides, they’ve struggled to make a deep playoff run.
A move to Baltimore could provide him with another legitimate shot at a championship, as the Ravens are already built to contend with a strong defense and an MVP-caliber quarterback. The Ravens would gain a game-changing weapon in their quest for a first Super Bowl appearance since 2012.
