Timothy Shipman, the executive director of the Florida State Athletic Commission, told USA Today: “You can’t do a fight like this as a professional fight. It will be an exhibition fight. I’m looking at the details right now. I mean, it’s happening pretty fast. But I’m sure there will be other stipulations because you can’t do it with the same requirements.”
According to the athletic commission official, who has revealed important details about the fight between Gervonta Davis vs Jake Paul. The fight was recently moved to Miami, Florida from Atlanta, Georgia, as the Georgia State Athletic Commission refused to sanction the fight, resulting in the change of location.
The Florida State Athletic Commission will be the governing body that will now oversee the fight. The fight will take place on November 14, 2025, will be broadcast on Netflix, and will be held at the Kaseya Center in Miami.
The physical disparity between the two fighters has raised eyebrows before
At 6-foot-1, Jake Paul’s last fight was in the cruiserweight category against Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. Meanwhile, Gervonta Davis is 5-foot-5 and fights in the lightweight division (135 lbs), where he currently holds the WBA title.
Jake Paul is risking the fight with Anthony Joshua
According to Eddie Hearn, who is Anthony Joshua‘s promoter: “They came to me and said they wanted to do that fight. I said I couldn’t do that fight until you’ve fought Gervonta Davis in this exhibition. If Gervonta Davis knocks you out, don’t think you’re going to fight Anthony Joshua, it’s ridiculous. So we’d rather they didn’t take that fight if we’re going to do the fight with [AJ].”.
