Sunlight glinted off the St. Andrews simulators as Nella Korda imagined herself teeing off alongside the men. Instead, she’s watching from the sidelines, unsure if the WTGL will ever meet her expectations.
The TGL, co-founded by Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy, announced a women’s league launching winter 2026-27. So far, seven players are confirmed, but Korda is not among them, hinting she may skip the event entirely.
Korda, two-time major winner and America’s top women’s star, told Golfweek she has “mixed feelings” about the league.
“I have mixed feelings on it if I’m being very honest,” Korda said. “And I’m surprised no other girls have, or no one’s really spoken out about it.
“I think it’s a huge and unbelievable miss that we’re not playing alongside the men. There’s no greater way to grow the game, and it would have been revolutionary.
“It would have been the first time, I think, that men and women are on the same playing field, playing for the same exact amount of money.
“But I also think it’s great that we are getting this opportunity, so that’s my mixed feelings.”
Golf analysts agree Korda’s critique reflects the wider sentiment in the sport. Mixed events have long been a dream for players and fans alike, and many see WTGL’s women-only format as a missed chance for true innovation and fan engagement.
So far, Jeeno Thitikul, Lydia Ko, Brooke Henderson, Lexi Thompson, Charley Hull, Rose Zhang, and Lottie Woad have committed to playing, while Korda continues to weigh her decision, leaving the league with one of its biggest questions unanswered.
While the league promises crossover events in the future, viewership for TGL has been underwhelming.
Could Tiger Woods return to PGA action soon?
Tiger Woods turned 50 in December 2025, opening the door to PGA Tour Champions competition. Fans and media are buzzing about the possibility of his return, though Woods has not confirmed any plans to play yet.
Tommy ‘Two Gloves’ Gainey, PGA Tour Champions Rookie of the Year, fueled speculation during a Sirius XM radio interview.
“I do think he’s going to play out here. He signed a deal with Insperity,” Gainey claimed. “You could see it on his sleeve, so that’s good news.
“I will let people think maybe what they want to think on that, but that tells me that if he’s able to play, he’s going to play in that one.”
He is referencing the Insperity Invitational in Texas, May 8-10 at Woodlands Country Club as after rupturing his Achilles in early 2025 and undergoing his seventh back surgery in 11 years, Woods is currently cleared to compete.
Speculation remains high, with fans eagerly awaiting details about when and where Woods might return. If he does play, his presence alone could dramatically elevate the profile of any senior tour event he enters.
