Neither Francisco Lindor nor Juan Soto can stop the New York Mets from hitting rock bottom – and Carlos Mendoza could now be on the hot seat

The New York Mets ended up being booed by their own fans. We can’t blame them after witnessing how painful the last few weeks have been, with a plummeting record that only adds pressure to Carlos Mendoza and the players, who couldn’t hide their frustration, showing long faces when the final out was recorded.

Kodai Senga’s outing didn’t go as planned, and Francisco Lindor‘s offensive production was limited to positive stats that, at this moment, mean little.

The Mets’ troubling record

The Atlanta Braves aren’t having their best season, but they managed to string together wins in their road series in New York. The 4-3 result leaves the Mets in a tough spot, having lost 13 of their last 15 games, putting their postseason hopes at risk.

Francisco Lindor did everything he could to avoid this loss, going 3-for-4 with a home run, two singles, a stolen base, and two runs scored; the final result, however, is one we all know.

With a 64-57 record, the Mets are five games behind the Philadelphia Phillies, who lost to the Washington Nationals, but the concern grows when talking about the Wild Card, where the Cincinnati Reds are now just 0.5 games behind Carlos Mendoza’s team.

What Carlos Mendoza said after the game vs. Atlanta Braves

Carlos Mendoza, the Mets‘ manager, spoke at the post-game press conference, stating that he feels the team “hasn’t been able to put everything together.”

“Whenever we’re getting the offense, we’re not getting starting pitching. Today we got starting pitching, we got some timely hitting, but we couldn’t close it out,” he added.
