Oklahoma City Thunder superstar Shai Gilgeous-Alexander is having one of the best years of his life.

The Canadian shooting guard helped his team win its first NBA championship, he won regular season MVP, and he was named Finals MVP.

SGA is ready to be the face of the league, as the 6’6, 195 pounds baller has stated that he’s not done chasing greatness. The three-time All-NBA agreed to terms on a four-year, $285 million contract extension with Oklahoma City, which shows his commitment to the franchise for many years to come.

SGA receives a hometown homage

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander received the key to the city of Hamilton, Ontario – his birthplace -, in front of thousands of fans at Hamilton Stadium. It was a celebration of the player’s successes and a vibrant reflection of the city’s pride, spirit and the incredible talent its people have.

Wearing a Hamilton Tiger-Cats shirt with his iconic No. 2, the Thunder star stepped onto the football field during the CFL game between the Ticats and B.C. Lions, drawing a huge roar from the crowd. It was a tribute to the hard work the NBA superstar has put on.

After leading Oklahoma City to its first NBA title and sweeping MVP honors, SGA joins legends Shaquille O’Neal, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, and Michael Jordan as the only players to win MVP, Finals MVP, and a scoring title in the same season.

Making history in the NBA

The Hamilton, Ontario native appeared in 76 games (all starts) and averaged a league-best 32.7 points on 51.9% shooting, including 37.5% from three-point range, to go along with 6.4 assists, 5 rebounds, 1.72 steals and one block in 34.2 minutes of action per game.

He became just the second player in NBA history to average at least 30 points on 50% shooting to go along with at least 5 rebounds, 5 assists, 1.50 steals and 1.00 block [Michael Jordan (1987-88 and 1990-91)].

The seven-year NBA veteran posted his third-straight season averaging 30-plus points on 50% shooting, just the fifth player in NBA history to accomplish this (Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Giannis Antetokounmpo, Wilt Chamberlain and Michael Jordan). Gilgeous-Alexander scored 2,484 total points during the season, most in the NBA.
