Chet Holmgren is having a summer to remember, with an NBA championship under his belt and a bright future with the Oklahoma City Thunder.
The former Gonzaga Bulldog standout was a key part of the Larry O’Brien trophy winners, averaging 15 points, 8 rebounds and two assists per game.
Holmgren, who was part of the All-Rookie Team, agreed this summer to a fully guaranteed five-year maximum rookie contract extension with OKC that could reach $250 million dollars. The center/forward is a reliable defender who can also make the transition game easier for the franchise.
Holmgren gets roasted for bizarre outfit
NBA champion center/forward Chet Holmgren joined his Oklahoma City Thunder teammates at veteran guard Alex Caruso‘s wedding to internet celebrity Haleigh Broucher, held less than a year after the couple’s engagement.
Standing 7’1″ and weighing 208 pounds, Holmgren turned heads in a white suit, bright red shirt, and gold chains. Social media exploded with jokes, with fans saying he looked like a “Miami drug lord” and questioning why he wore white to someone else’s wedding.
While Holmgren‘s outfit sparked laughs, the Thunder have been busy locking in their young core. Superstar guard Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Holmgren, and forward Jalen Williams have all signed long-term deals, with the team aiming for another championship run next season.
A steady player on offense and defense
Originally selected No. 2 overall by the Oklahoma City Thunder in the 2022 NBA draft, the Minneapolis, Minnesota native has appeared in 114 career games (all starts) for OKC. Holmgren holds career averages of 16.1 points, 7.9 rebounds, 2.3 assists and 2.29 blocks in 28.9 minutes per game.
Holmgren averaged 15.2 points, 8.7 rebounds and 1.87 blocks in 29.8 minutes per game during the Thunder‘s playoff run this past season. He tallied 18 points, eight rebounds and an NBA record five blocks in Game 7 of the 2025 NBA Finals to help lift the Thunder to its first championship.
Chet recorded a historic season in 2023-24 as he became the first player in NBA history to reach over 150-plus blocks, 150-plus assists, and 100-plus made three-pointers. He also registered nine games with three blocks and three made three-pointers, tied for the most ever by a rookie.
