The 2025 NBA All-Star Game is bringing a fresh format, shaking things up with a four-team mini-tournament instead of the traditional East vs. West matchup.
Set to take place on February 16 at the Chase Center in San Francisco, this year’s showcase will feature a new level of competition and excitement.
2025 NBA All-Star’s new format
Rather than a single exhibition game, the league has introduced a three-game tournament featuring four teams.
The 24 All-Star selections were split into three squads drafted by TNT analysts Shaquille O’Neal, Charles Barkley, and Kenny Smith.
The fourth team will be made up of the winners of the Rising Stars Challenge, highlighting the league’s best young talent.
The head coaches for the All-Star Game were selected based on the teams with the best records in each conference as of February 2.
An assistant coach from these teams will lead the Rising Stars champion and the remaining All-Star squad.

LeBron James headlines the 2025 NBA All-Star starters, marking his record-extending 21st selection.
Unfortunately, Giannis Antetokounmpo, who led all players in fan votes, will miss the game due to injury.

Prize Pool and game details
The teams will compete for a $1.8 million prize pool, with players on the winning team receiving $125,000 each.
The second-place team will earn $50,000 per player, while third- and fourth-place teams will receive $25,000 each.
