Myles Garrett could end up in the Buffalo Bills, but the Cleveland Browns won’t make it easy

The Buffalo Bills have been a perennial AFC contender with Josh Allen leading the charge, but they have yet to break through to a Super Bowl appearance.

With the 2025 NFL offseason approaching, one insider believes the Bills could take a major step forward by making a bold move: trading for Cleveland Browns star pass rusher Myles Garrett.

Is Myles Garrett the missing piece

ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler recently suggested that Buffalo should consider acquiring Garrett to add a true difference-maker to its defense.

“Many around the league agree: Working a potential trade for Myles Garrett or another high-end pass rusher would make sense. The Bills need more edge prowess,”

Fowler wrote in an article ranking teams ahead of the offseason.

Garrett, a four-time First-Team All-Pro, remains one of the league’s most dominant defensive forces.

He led the NFL in quarterback pressures last season and finished with 14 sacks, despite facing constant double-teams.

His ability to disrupt opposing offenses would provide a major boost to Buffalo’s defense, which has struggled at times in high-stakes playoff matchups.

However, a potential trade faces several significant hurdles.

Garrett still has two years remaining on the five-year, $125 million extension he signed in 2020, with nearly $45 million owed over that span.

The Bills are already projected to be around $14 million over the 2025 salary cap, meaning they would need to clear significant space to make room for his contract.

Additionally, Browns general manager Andrew Berry has publicly stated that he wouldn’t trade Garrett for two first-round picks, reinforcing the idea that Cleveland is not eager to part ways with its defensive cornerstone.

While Garrett has reportedly requested a trade, it remains uncertain whether the Browns would be willing to deal him, especially within the AFC.

The Bills could undoubtedly use a premier pass rusher to elevate their defense, but making a deal for Garrett would require overcoming financial obstacles and convincing the Browns to part with their star.

While the idea is enticing for Buffalo fans, it remains more of a dream than a likely reality at this point.

Would the Bills take the risk to make a blockbuster trade, or will they pursue more realistic options to strengthen their roster?

The offseason will provide the answer.
