Boxer Nico Ali Walsh, grandson of the legendary Muhammad Ali, has stepped into the public spotlight not for his performance in the ring, but for taking a bold political stance.

In a post that has quickly gone viral, Walsh has expressed his opposition to the ongoing war on Iran, drawing attention both for his convictions and for the backlash that followed.

“I stand firmly against this unjust war on Iran. That’s my belief and my religion,” he wrote on X.

Fans took to the comment section to hit out at Nico Ali Walsh for his support towards Iran.

“Do you stand against Iran funding terrorist organizations?” a user wondered.

Another asked: “What are your thoughts on Irans campaign of terror over the last 46 years?”

“Unfortunately we had to make sure Iran didn’t get nuclear bombs. Oh and Iran also blows up Americans and hangs woman and LGBTQ people,” a third noted.

The ongoing conflict between Israel and Iran

In early June 2025, Israel launched a major military campaign-dubbed “Operation Rising Lion”-targeting Iranian nuclear and military installations, including Natanz, Fordow, and Isfahan. Supported by covert Mossad drone strikes, these air assaults hit over 100 sites, destroying missile launchers, bunkers, radar systems, and reportedly killing senior IRGC commanders and nuclear scientists.

Iran countered vigorously. On June 15, it fired hundreds of missiles and drones toward Israel, striking cities including Tel Aviv, Haifa, Beersheba, Rehovot and Bat Yam. Casualties included children and civilians; one notable incident involved a missile hitting Soroka Medical Center in Beersheba, severely damaging the facility and injuring dozens

By mid-June, the cycle of attack and retaliation escalated. Israel conducted a second wave of airstrikes on Isfahan on June 21, deploying over 150 missiles. The United States joined the effort with strikes on Iran’s Fordow, Natanz, and Isfahan nuclear facilities, reportedly with success. Iran responded by launching approximately 40 Kheybar Shekan missiles at Israel, and further launches targeted U.S. ships and installations, raising fears of a wider regional war.

The death toll has already risen into the hundreds on both sides, with Iranian casualties exceeding 400 in some reports, and dozens of Israeli civilians injured or killed by incoming missile fire.

Diplomatic attempts at deescalation have so far failed, with Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu calling openly for regime change in Tehran, and Iran’s foreign minister warning of “everlasting consequences” while exploring withdrawal from the NPT.
