Move over, Hailee Steinfeld: Josh Allen needs to keep the person who helps him bring out the best in him by his side

Since joining the Buffalo Bills as offensive coordinator in November 2023, Joe Brady has revitalized a stagnant offense and repositioned the team as one of the most efficient in the NFL. His balanced strategic vision has not only elevated Josh Allen‘s MVP-caliber play but ignited chatter that Brady is destined for a head-coaching position.

Before Brady‘s arrival, the Bills struggled to impose their will on game scripts. Brian Daboll failed to unlock a consistently effective running attack, and Ken Dorsey couldn’t engineer the passing offense necessary to maximize Allen’s unique skill set. Once Brady took over the play-calling, however, that began to change immediately.

According to Pro Football Focus’s Trevor Sikkema, the Bills have surged to elite levels under Brady’s leadership.

“Since taking over as Buffalo’s playcaller after Ken Dorsey‘s firing in mid-November 2023, the Bills have posted the NFL’s highest EPA per pass (0.228) and the second-highest EPA per rush (0.089),” Sikkema said.

Their overall EPA per play is second only to the Baltimore Ravens, trailing by just .014 since Brady’s tenure began-placing Buffalo among the league’s most balanced and dangerous units.

Sustained protection and expanded targets fuel success

One critical element behind this transformation has been the continuity along Buffalo’s offensive line. For a second consecutive season, all nine starters from last year’s roster returned, helping the team surrender the fewest sacks (14) in the NFL. That consistency has allowed Allen to operate without pressure and let the run game complement the passing attack more effectively.

Meanwhile, Brady has widened the scope of his passing game. After depending heavily on Stefon Diggs, the Bills leaned into a more distributed receiving core. Key departures made way for fresh talent such as Joshua Palmer and Elijah Moore, while breakout candidate Keon Coleman steps into a larger role as a second-year talent. Together, they’ve embraced Brady’s “everybody eats” philosophy-a system where multiple weapons contribute and defenses struggle to key on a single threat.

“With Josh Allen locked in, an intact offensive line and a potentially upgraded receiver room, Brady’s offense is primed to keep rolling, and his stock as a future head coach has never been higher,” Sikkema wrote.

Today’s offensive clarity hasn’t gone unnoticed. Brady drew interest from several teams during the latest coaching search, interviewing with the Bears, Saints, and Jaguars, and is considered one of five coordinators primed to shine in 2025 alongside Kliff Kingsbury, Chip Kelly, Brian Flores, and Jesse Minter. But few are as well-positioned as Brady to take the next step.
